Guest guest
Challis, it sounded thorough. Glad you're getting an MRI. I have a cooling vest that I use because heat triggers EVERYTHING MS symptom wise. I'm wearing it now to Wal*Mart and everywhere else because the heat being on is too much for me too. I'm waiting to be stopped with this vest. I've all ready been asked at a Chuck E cheese if it was a bullet proof vest....lol I got it at www.coolsport.net I got the Cool Vest Classic. I may get a more fitted one for this time of year since I won't wear it as long inside a store as I do outside in the summer. Mine held off, barely, until after I saw the Neuro. It was already creeping in. Their office is about four hours from me, and it was hot. They think it's "cold" and the heat in the office was not pleasant. It triggered some tinglies, numbing and such for the visit though. lol This is an office where Med Students take active roles in patient care. A fourth-year Med Student did my intake. Yeah, I might've liked the Neuro alone for my first visit, not that it matters anyway though. lol It sure isn't the first visit with a doc and student. ) My boys have done lots of those! LOL Student was having a heck of a time getting me to cooperate. He tried to ask the questions to get it started and my brain tried to sort it all out. <g> We managed. lol In the end, Med Student said "Well, you have a number of things that are Neurological, and others that aren't... the problem with your eyes, with your bladder, [etc.], aren't neurological and you'd typically see someone else for..." and I smiled. And he continued "you do have some symptoms that could point to MS, though I'm not saying you do have MS and I'm not saying you don't have MS... I'm going to talk to the doctor and he'll be in to see you". And I smiled. And as we waited, and I chuckled appreciatively over the Med Student's nerves apparent. lol ) And Doc went through his stuff and was fun and engaging. And he said we're going to look into MS and we're going to do the testing (labs ordered, MRI in the process of scheduling). He didn't see a lot in the office, with the Neuro exams, but explains to the Med Student that this isn't unusual (before doc came in, we heard him explaining MS to the Med Student in more detail). I liked both the Med Student and the Doc just fine. I didn't mention MS to either of them, at any time, other than including it in family history. It's the only dx either mentioned. Surely I mentioned it when setting up the appointment? When Med Student asked, Doc explained which dxes the labs would help rule out on the path to ruling out MS for me. Surely I mentioned MS when scheduling. Anyway, there I was and here I am. <shrug> <g> Challis ~~SSgt. B. HobbsDied Oct. 2004(Afghanistan) A man of great integrity and incredible faith. Guest guest
Challis, I am so tickled with your visit to the doctor. My daughter is in Med school and will be in this very same situation soon, and the child knows so much about MS, it will be fun for her to inform the docs.....I hope your tests come out okay, and I'm around online, almost all the time because of my need for support. Guest guest
ROFL at the bullet proof vest. LOL While in the Neuro's waiting room, I found several MS pamphlets to read through and one mentioned a cooling vest. I'd never heard of it! lol Thank you for the link! ) Challis Challis, it sounded thorough. Glad you're getting an MRI.
