Hugs,

Challis

Hi everyone,

just wanted to say hello and I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season.

hubbys appt is finally approaching. jan 19. we lost the other screwball anyways as he dropped out of our ppo.

couldn't come soon enough. someone, somewhere has to have answers for us. hasn't been good here.

Mom gave us movie passes for christmas. So far, after he finishes work, bill doesn't have even the energy to do that. he gets so cold. so i got him a massage mat with heat and lots of warm clothes for christmas. oh, and a chainsaw, which he really wanted but i have no clue as to why. lol.

anyways, have been reading your shares, praying when needed and relating a lot.

thanks for being there

May God bless you and keep you until we meet again!

Tell you hubby to be careful with that chain saw. I am married to one if those "Tim the Tool Man " types. He wanted the chain saw with "MORE POWER". Anyway, I got a call at work one day; seems he tried to cut his foot off with it. The EMS business was so busy that day, it took over an hour to get him to the hospital. Poor fellow almost bled to death. And, to top it all off, the ER was so busy, I had to assist the Orthopedic surgeon while he stitched him up. Don't know how I didn't pass out, must have been adrenaline because a week later when they took the stitches out, I did almost pass out and throw up. The doctor gave me a sucker and sent me to the waiting room. Earl still has a nasty scar on his ankle.

Take care, Ann

Wow ! That's great!! I'm so happy for you! Keep up the good

work with the supplements. I'm not sure you want to use the gingko

unless you're having cortisol symptoms--let's check that with

.

While on the subject, I'm happy to report that I've been using the

gingko and ashwaganda for morning cortisol issues, and they have

helped tremendously. I seem to cycle in and out of those kinds of

cortisol symptoms. It appears to be linked to the amount of sunshine

and exercise I get and probably to my monthly cycle as well, which

means I will have to titrate the amount of these herbs I use to match

my body's responses. It's fascinating to really pay attention to

one's body and note the intricacies of action and reaction that take

place every day :)

Congrats again, . Hats off to you and your efforts to take good

care of your body!

Hi Kim,

I appreciate your support. It helps to stay connected to this list. I really haven't found any great support for getting off drugs except for this list.

I don't think I'm having cortisol symptoms at the moment. But based on what I read on the list, I may have been during the cold turkey. This is what caused me to reinstate. I was waking up with severe anxiety the moment I opened my eyes which was around 4 am. Of all the cold turkey symptoms that was the worst. Worse even than the nausea. I hope it doesn't come back.

Isn't Ginkgo just good all around for mental functioning? Such as being able to concentrate at work? I've never taken it before.

including gatorade. This is from the POTS that i have. Very rare condition.

Maybe i will try the adkins diet. Thx

Re: Checking in

Everybody i know with Fibro struggles with their weight. It is because we have

hypoglycemia. My last post here explains a fair bit about that but the one book

thay will explain this most clearly to you is the Dr Atkins diet book.

The 1,000 calories aday thing does not work because it antagonises the

hypoglycemia and can cause Fibro symptoms.

Please try to get hold of the Akins book. I bought mine for £1 from a charity

shop. I believe it is very cheap o Ebay

It is the staying in KETOSIS that will help you loose weight and manage your

Fibro Symptoms, particularly the Hypoglycemia, candida and pain, plus hormone

difficulties,

If you are Oestrogen dominant cutting out dairy will help a lot with this but

you will need to take calcium tablets, and possibly magnesium

I will explai this more fully for you if you ask, but the Atkins book explains

it a lot better than i can

Do you use the coconut oil to cook??? I use olive oil only, is this wrong???

Re: Checking in

This is how i get myself into ketosis. I water fast for one day, drink water and

eat a small amount of protein on day two and on day 3 add just 20g of carbs to

the water and protein. when i do it thins way i enter ketosis on day 3 my pain

goes from 10 to 2 and my other symptoms improve dramatically. the secret then is

to stay in ketosis. the atkins book explains this easily

In a nut shell I can never eat sugar in any form, I can oly eat low carb natural

vegetables and very small amount of fruit. the only other carbs i eat are nuts

and seens becasue these are natural and my body can cope with them i then eat

meat and fish. some people with fibromyalgia can eat dairy products too but i

cannot. Dairy holds my weight.

I do not eat processed foods ever. I eat only natural foods. I cannot eat

asparatame but i seem to be ok with other sweatners in low doeses

Ketosis is the key to recovery and ensuring i do not have Candida. Low carb

eatig sees off candida and coconut oil helps with this too

i will share again

much coconut oil do i dopwn a day??? I love spring salad mix w olive oil red

wine vinegar...yum. Thx for the advice

Re: Checking in

No, its not wrong olive oil is great keep using it. All oils are food cod liver

oil, evening primrose oil star flower oil nut oils. and if they are virgin that

is better

But the coco nut oil is special. It keeps candida under control and it is better

if you need immediate energy

yes i do cook with it and i eat it from a spoon

Its hard to get your head aroind at first. But where as i the past we used carbs

for energy, we need to learn how to use oils instead

Oils provide just as much energy as carbs but cards are not good for fibros.

Carbs rais our blood sugar and insulin too high. this is why so many of us are

over weight

we then get IBS PMS Arthritic pain and all the rest. Oils stabalise our blood

sugar. Once stable our foggy head goes we get better energy we are less hungry

etc

but if you have had fibro for a long time it will take time for your body to

adjust

Plus most of us do not stick to the diet properly at first, we cheat and sneak

in carbs. we then get ill agian. Its only when we have suffered enough that we

say never again and become determined.

Then we learn it properly and we do it. All natural veg, meat fish eggs nuts

seeds and NO Poison

Love Joanne

Hi, what kind of sodium do you take? i use a sea salt with 84 minerals. I make

an electrolyte drink. http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/recipes/recipe170.php

That would be so much better for you than gatorade-which is just a soda with

the wrong kind of salt. The info in Bee's site too has a low carb diet that

helps us. I lost 20 pounds, and less pain.

best wishes.

Hi sending a link on coconut oil. You have to start on it slowly, and increase

gradually. I am up to 3 tablespoons a day with meals in divided doses. Also

found out I was not eating enough meat, which we really need for the protein and

nutrients it provides. It can be gradually added. some former vegetarians are on

Bee's candidasupport group, and it was not easy for them to change, but they

did, and started healing.

As an ND I feel obligated to have a say here. The Atkins diet is a bad idea

for Hypoglycemics. Fasting is dangerous for the true Hypoglycemic and a

spedific balance of the carbs/fatsd/protiens nust be followed as well as

individualized meal/snack schedules.(based on what your blood sugar system is

doing)

carb diet ive been wanting to do that anyweays. Thx for everything

RE: Re: Checking in

Hi

If you are like me and you have been following the traditional western diets you

perhaps have tried to keep your fat intake low and maybe without realising it

uped your carb intake whilst replacing this

This is what i am assuming, you many not have done this, but most folk i know

who have Fibro say this is what they did

You may be over weight, i cannot remember if you said you were, but if you have

cut down on fat and increased carbs it is likely you are over weight because

this is what happens to people who are seseptable to Fibro, Diabetes and a few

other illnesses

Anyway if you have been told to lower your fat further to loose weight, many

diets do advocate this, then unfortunately what will happen is you will get

fatter, even if you only eat 1,000 so of calories

the reason for this is a bit complicated. I will try to explian it a little

here, but the book that i have found explains it most clearly is the Dr Atkins

book

After eating a high carb low fat diet for several years the body often starts

producing too much insulin. this insulin makes us hungry and a lot of people

start craving biscuits cakes etc. As they eat more sugary stuff their insulin

level get more messed up and eventually they develop insulin resistance. This is

how we become

I am a pk, and 2 years ago was addicted to pills as strong as heroin. 3 years

ago i was an alcoholic and was in a coma from an overdose of the drugs. I

personally would not do hypnosis, the only thing i want in my subconscience is

God. Joyce meyer is aesome. Her battlefield of the mind is an amazing book, i

have a couple of her devotionals. Also kenneth copeland, jerry sevell, jesse

duplantis who is so funny and creflo dollar, joseph prince just to name a few.

Feeding your body the right foods is very important, but honestly not nearly as

important as feeding your spirit. So reading The Word of God and having a

relationship w Him by talking to Him, or prayer . JESUS IS THE MAIN THING THAT

HAS GOTTEN ME THROUGH the hell thats been my life and my wonderful family. HE

died so i could be.forgiven and healed so i expect nothing less. I hve my bad

days but they r days not weeks and now i get through them drug free! Where r u

located??? I am in anaheim california by disneyland

RE: Re: Checking in

there is a fair bit more to all this but if you keep postig here you will find a

lot of answers. I cannot myself fully explain the Atkins diet because over time

i have adapted it to meet my own needs. My own view is if you start with the

book and learn the basics then you will be able to adapt the diet to your own

needs

I do not want to bombard you with information. You see for most of us this low

carb thig goes totally against what we have been taught. we have been told to

count calories and weigh stuff and cut out fat and vigorous excercize and all

this stuff. changig over can be a bit of a challenge but once we have done so

and we no longer binge eat and our heads are not muffled with the hypoglycemia

etc, we get a chance to think

it is a good idea to write your symptoms down and score how bad they are out of

ten. And in a month or so score them again and the in another month score them

again.

the recovery is slow but

I really love and appreciate the people here. As individuals we find out what

works best for us.

I too am a 12-stepper. I am doing some writing tonight due to the weather

instead of a meeting with my sponsor. My first step goes like this: I am

powerless over - Alcohol, Fibromyalgia, Celiac disease, Deafness, Going blind,

DID, my excess fat, and Chronic Self-condemnation.

That might be too much, but I'd like to clear up as much self-inflicted nonsense

as I can.

My powerlessness is because I cannot control the progression of any of these

disorders by myself. I need to take a good look at any underlying attitudes,

fears, anger, resentments etc so I can let them go and let Heavenly Father fix

it. As a human I don't have the power to fix myself.

BUT I do have the power of choice in doing whatever it takes to face these

afflictions and also to choose to do God's will in how He wants my afflictions,

character defects and weaknesses to be handled or deleted from my life.

I have had over 14 years experience in living sober and clean. And many more

years actively in 12 step whatever-was-bugging-me programs.

I also have over 26 years tobacco free, and over 13 years coffee and tea free.

I keep in the scriptures and am very active in my church - lots of blessings

means lots of chances for responsibilities.

I also have used auto-hypnosis in the past when I was suffering with PTSD and in

a whole lot of emotional and mental pain as well as the physical. I was able to

get the repetition I need so I could hear positive statements and felt empowered

by what I was using. The people I use: Effective Learning System by Griswald.

This spring is different from last year. Last year about this time I went into a

Fibro flare and fog that ended up with me not completing my school classes and

losing my job.

Lately, I found that using a decongestant (Musinex) helps the excess mucus

production that is part of Fibro for some of us. For me, it also has reduced the

pain level to what may be very near normal human experience. I do know I have

more energy and with less pain, my attitude is more wholesome without fighting

to get to that. I still use the Fatigued to Fantastic protocol as that works

well in getting my poor little cells nourished so they can have energy. I also

am having an easier time staying on my gluten-free eating plan for the Celiac.

I may not know any of you up close and personally, but I care very much about

you.
