Guest guest
Or is that old-fashioned exposure therapy? In any case, kind of works for me, because, in the fog I've surrounded myself with, not knowing what to do and what my values, goals and priorities might be, this gives me the sense of direction. For instance, I STILL have not done my taxes - it says go do your taxes precisely because you are afraid - makes sense! BTW, had a funny dream last night: was pulled over by the police, realized it's a dream and decided I might literally flow in the face of the police officer. I mean, I FLEW in his helmeted face. Freaky! This video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GesrSmwIXwE & feature=related , starting at 6:40, translation mine, thought it sounded familiar. The guy's name is Radislav Gandapas. Has anyone had any contact with him? " Now a little about a method of fighting fear that is applicable beyond public performance situations. What do you usually do when anticipating an unpleasant event: an unpleasant talk, or, again, public speech? Usually, we walk away from our fear. And then what, do we stop feeling fear? No, the fear follows us, and the more we postpone an event, the more (and for longer) we are stressed. I recommend to do as follows. Walk towards your fear. And at one beautiful moment, you'll meet. The most dreadful thing (or so you think) will happen; but the very next moment, you'll keep going on your way, and your fear, on its way. Your fear will be left behind. Go do what you are afraid of; you'll feel better the very next second, and you'll never again fear what you've been postponing for so long.
