Would you mind changing the subject of thread in the spirit of the intent of your suggestion? I'm feeling a bit notorious. Bill

Hi Terry,

Are you trying to establish a rule about this?

Hi Terry,

I guess I feel confused. I'm not making promises about what I post on

this forum.

.... Whoa! That's interesting ...

I kind of take that back. Sort of. I'm committed to acting in line

with my values and thinking about what's going on here in ACT terms

and principles and its general values. I guess I can't make certain

promises but am willing to consider what is going on.

I will however say that I'm deeply interested in the values and the

spirit of this forum. Personally, I only have one Enter key - I can

only make my own posts.

Thats all,

I'm a little late to jump in on this, but just want to say this:

As to asking how or where someone is, to me that's no big deal - the individual is not required to respond - but I am willing to go along with not doing that since it seems to be important to some. I would welcome such questions, but others may not. Dozens of people have gone silent on this list and the number of times that has triggered a question from a group member is just a couple, as I recall. Bill has acted as a self-proclaimed coach so, in my mind, the question about his absence was appropriate.

What I consider a breach of privacy is emailing someone directly, unless you have already established a personal relationship (e.g., via FB) or have given consent (would you mind if I contact you privately?). A personal pat on the back via private email is one thing (and welcomed by all, most likely), but to intrude on someone's email privacy to point out perceived problems in their posts or to engage in discussion is quite another. Only the moderators or the ACT professionals have a right to do that. Further, if you do email someone privately, please remember that they are under no obligation to reply. People on this list didn't sign up to have their private email used as the vehicle for discussion -- they signed up for interaction within the group.

Ergo: ACT for the PUBLIC vs. PRIVATE email

(This happened with a couple of other folks a few months ago here and I emailed that person back channel requesting they not do that publicly, that I wouldn't want to be called out.. and never got a response..so now I'm putting this request out to everyone). > > > > > > Could we please agree to address queries as to where someone is to the person privately back-channel? IMO this is a risky question to ask on the board, and a risk not necessary. Certainly, the person may not mind, may even be flattered that they're being remembered and cheered on or whatever. Yet IMO we need to be sensitive and consider that some folks very well may NOT want to be called out publicly. (For me this would be true). Some may prefer to be asked privately as to how they are, etc. And then comes all the subsequent back and forth, the shout outs and thank you's and so on...which I find a bit tiring and un-necessary as well frankly..suggest back channel for these as well. I guess I'm just not sure what function it serves the group to assume this is O.K. to do publicly (?). Why not err on the side of the person's privacy? And if and when they want to share something on the board, they will if and when they're ready. > > > > > > Any other thoughts?> > > > > > Thanks,> > > Terry> > > > > > > > > >> > > > Yeah, please come in again whenever you can...learned lots from you too!> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > ________________________________> > > > From: Bill C <wcamero@>> > > > To: ACT_for_the_Public <act_for_the_public >> > > > Sent: Sun, April 24, 2011 11:56:17 PM> > > > Subject: RE: Bill C> > > > > > > >  > > > > Thanks. No worries. Helena,

I totally agree and take note. Makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the guidance.
