Hi AJ,You certainly have been though a lot. Your EN is much more severe than mine was in that I only had the one lower leg affected most of the time. I joined Lance Armstrong's site and added a note:Hi Everyone,

A member of my erythema nodosum support group:

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/erythema_nodosum_Group/

alerted me to this site. It is wonderful to see so much effort devoted to panniculitis. However, many people do not know that the word panniculitis simply means inflammation of the fat cells. The older and maybe more common name of the most common form of panniculitis is ERYTHEMA NODOSUM which means "red nodules" in Latin. I was diagnosed with EN over 40 yrs ago and formed the erythema nodosum support group in

2002. We now have over 2,500 members worldwide. I hope you will use the

terminology "erythema nodosum" on your site for those who are not familiar with the term panniculitis, even though panniculitis is the more recent terminology and includes all the subtypes. EN is the only form of panniculitis that can be "cured" by finding the trigger and treating it or eliminating the causative agent or drug. Still about 1/2 of all cases of EN are idiopathic where no trigger is discovered even after searching for it. The best article I have ever found on EN is this

one:

http://dermatology.cdlib.org/DOJvol8num1/reviews/enodosum/requena.html

It includes all info known to date and a list of triggers.

The photo on my group site home page shows the typical look of EN--you can see the nodes in several stages on this photo.

Thanks again for your wonderful site, and I hope you will consider adding Erythema Nodosum to the article on panniculitis.

Best Regards,

Strecker

I am saying this as you started getting EN around the time of puberty. My EN went into remission when I finally reached menopause. I only took BC pills in my early 20's for a few yrs, but that is when my EN started. In my case maybe it took reaching menopause to get the hormones in my system down to a level that did not trigger my

EN--all this is purely a guess, of course.I hope you feel much better soon, and that you and all our group members have a Happy and Pain free weekend!Love,http://poems2order.wordpress.com/donate-to-erythema-nodosum-research/Please enter Erythema Nodosum.........Thanks!Subject: I have noticed notice more articles on EN/PANNICLITIS/NODULAR PANNICULITISTo: erythema_nodosum_Group Date: Friday, October 1, 2010, 6:26 AMHi All,In all my years of research, I have noticed that EN, PANNICLITIS, and NODULAR PANNICULITIS is becoming more reconized in textbooks and in medicine.
