Guest guest
I find putting an ice pack over the injection site for about 20 min. works very well! Alo, when you clean the area with alcohol, rub HARD! Both of these send messages up to the brain, and when the " hard-cold " message is going up, the " sharp stick " message may not go. Good luck! Guest guest
I am on Capaxone, a daily injection into the fat (got lot’s of that) I can honestly say that in the last 90 days, I have only felt the needle once, and that didn’t hurt. But once you get involved with Capaxone they send you stuff once or twice a week. So far I have gotten many pamphlets a phone call every month from an RN, an ice pack, a really cool headband to keep the sweat out of my eyes when running (yeah like that’s going to happen), the list goes on. I am convinced that if I called them u p and told them I needed a marshmallow in my mouth in order to tolerate the injection, I truly believe they would Fed-Ex me a bag of marshmallows every month. At one time I thought the thinner needles would be better so Avonex sent me some. That was a mistake. The narrow needles have a tendency to wiggle and not go in straight. At least for me. The bigger thicker needles go in straight and smooth. For me the only time I have any discomfort is when the needle is going through the top skin layer--my skin is sometimes supersensitive. Once the needle is through that top layer there isn't any pain or discomfort at all. So it makes sense to me that since a shorter needle or a narrow needle still has to go through that first layer it will be the same discomfort. I think it's often the IDEA of that long needle! I was sure creeped out by it in the beginning. lol hugs) Sharon Tori Sabaj wrote: I am not on any MS medicines. I was about to start on either Avonex or Copaxone when I found out I was pregnant. I was having a really hard time deciding, and then I found out I was pregnant, so I got a little break from having to decide. I will have to decide eventually though. I wish there was a way to get the small needles from Copaxone with the once a week of Avonex! Have a great night. I have a feeling more people in the group would like to have your doctor as well. I like how you turn a bad thing into a positive thing with your kids. My wife surprises me also she does a great job with her busy schedule now that I have my MS. It seems like she is always doing double duty. Are you also on the MS meds or did you have to put them to the side with being pregnant? Bill Sharon... from her farm in the mountains of Arizona!
