Guest guest
Howdy all, been awhile since I've checked in so I figured it was time to do so. I have been feeling like death warmed over since mid-August as the weather here has been very cool to cold and real wet/damp. I was able to get out fishing a whopping 4 hours in all of August, and none since. My spine density has come back (thanks to Forteo) but my hips are still deteriorating at a not too desirable pace. What cracks me up is that from June through early August I only had 2 headaches that knocked me down for a few days and hardly had to take any HD pain killers, but since that time I've had but 2-3 days without a nasty headache. I haven't been able to sleep worth a damn again as whatever part of my body is being layed upon hurts so damn bad I wake up screaming numerous times per night....yet once the sun rises I seem to be able to sleep pretty well. Go figure..... no one has been able to even give me a remote answer to that problem. I'm still coaching mini football, which is about the only thing I can still do well that I enjoy. My team is currently 7-1 with one week left in the regular season. So long as we win this Sunday we'll have the 2nd seed going into the playoffs and should wind up with a rematch to avenge our only defeat (12-8) in a few weeks, but no game is that easy to allow me to look ahead. The game we lost was actually a good thing for the kids in my opinion as there were quite a few of them getting a big ego, and nothing deflates a big ego like a stunning loss. I feel bad for one of (if not the) best players on my team as we lost due to a wet ball squirting out from underneath him on a wet field....they were able to score the deciding points the very next play. Aside from that loss, we have given up 3 TDs all year long, which is impressive to me. I should be back again (a lot more regularly) in a month or so, sooner if we lose earlier than desired. I've been " conned " into assisting the wrestling coaches again, but I think that has to be a good thing as it forces me to get up and do something. Too bad I can't get on the mat & teach the way I was taught. Hmm....I probably could...for 20-30 seconds at least....but I don't think I'd be able to get the hell back up afterwards. Oh well. Feels good to talk to y'all (Marty speak) again, we'll meet again soon. Kirk PS. If anyone is interested in checking out the mini football team do a search for the Duryea Wildcats. I coach the C team. -- Everything in life sucks except things that should!
