Hi Amy,

Firstly don't discount it as a totally different thing, but the flu like symptoms prior to or during EN are normal for me. I suffer lethargy, extreme fatigue as well, and the mornings are the worst. This morning, early, I needed to go to the bathroom, and couldn't put weight on either foot for a good while. Getting rather desperate, I had to force myself through the pain excruciating to get to the loo. I am only just getting around now but each step is just so painful and exhausting. The nodules also seemed to swell during the night, which I find unusual, and generally they settle overnight, only to swell the next day. This pattern continues until I get hospitalized, or take prednisone, or the EN resolves ) generally in hospital. I am being incredibly stubborn now, and so far of refused medication, hope the EN resolves itself. I can only hope :)

Flu-like aches

Does anyone (besides me) experience general, all-over sort of aches and pains, especially in the neck, shoulders and spine during outbreaks of EN? As I mentioned earlier, I haven't had an occurrence of EN in almost 7 years, but in the past month I've started up again. I know that the EN "prodrome" is said to be joint pain and flu-like symptoms for a short period about 2 weeks before nodules appear...but this time around, it seems that my aches, pains and flu-like stuff have continued thru-out the outbreak. Just curious to know if this is normal for EN, or maybe it's a totally different thing? Thanks,Amy P.

For myself, I have the joint pain just about year round these days. My neck is extremely sore, but nothing that has been any different for me in the last few years, so I have just dealt with it. Almost every part of me aches. When my hip® hurts, it like locks up, and I can not turn over, unless I want to cry out, and get the large pop or snap. SO whether or not this is something different then EN, as my GP says, who is to know for sure. I have not had any lumps in almost 3 years, and that is just fine with me.

Oh, and right now I have been freezing to the bone, but could be the flu coming on, as my daughter has had it.

As for the other, I hate it, but try as hard as I can not to let it defeat me or my mostly happy moods.

I had my tonsils out when I was 9 and my appendix when I was 13( had

had problems with it for years as a child, when it finally was

diagnosed it had a large tumor on it). I am 43 now.

I have been taking Indomethiacin since the first outburst about 3

weeks ago. Occasionally I put Arnica gel on the bumps to decrease the

swelling and colorization. Not sure how well that works.

The outburst happened synchron with pain in my ankles and carpal

tunnel, which I am still dealing with. I did have pain on my spine

initially too.

All this happened during a rather stressful time trying to start a new

business with a 11 month old baby at home. Trying to take it more easy

now, and taking my vitamins+ glucosamin again!

Fingers crossed to all of you out there dealing with this crap

disease!!!

Yes. I have these symptoms too. I have days where I hurt so bad all over and really feel like, well, I feel REALLY bad. Like the flu only a hundred times worse. it goes with the territory unfortunately for me.One of our ED docs told me why it does this, but for the life of me I can't remember why. I was more concerned about my unexplained bruising. He isn't here anymore, and the new docs aren't familiar with it, so I cannot ask him.I miss him because he is one of the only docs I have ever found that seemed to understand anything about this disease. Rest and Advil help me the most on days like this. From: Debbie

YES! Big time. I have lived on 800 mgs Ibuprofen every 7 hrs for 10 years now---even when I don't have outbreaks I feel crappy.

I have been hearing a lot about the gluten-inflammation connection and decided to give it a try and it really has helped. I have cut way back on my Motrin and generally feel better.

Good luck!!! Geracoulis307 Stratford CircleLocust Grove, VA 22508tiacyng@...

Yes.....I only ever had the one bout (of EN) but went gluten free and that has cured the occasional mild joint pain and all that i used to get prior to going gluten free.So I think I had some occasional ongoing autoimmune stuff prior to having the EN. (I had guttate psoriasis years ago, which had joint stuff with it, and the onset of that was preceded by severe joint stuff in the hands and all like i had with the EN)I had brusing on my legs with th ENchantelle YES!
