I'd probably Cut the gluten completely, reduce dairy, eat oily fish, borage oil perhaps, calendula tea with slippery elm, lots green veggies (esp brocolli for the calcium/minerals) J Fidler, MCPP, (RH) AHGHerbalist To: ukherbal-list Sent: Tuesday, July 10, 2012 8:29 AM Subject: Breast feeding mum with gut permeability and dry itchy skin

Hi

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a mum who is breastfeeding, but has terrible eczema, dry, itchy skin that flares up easily,

I have got her to minimise the wheat, but even aloe vera comes up as contraindicated, as does other gut building stuff such as glutamine,

Suggested bone broth, but she does not like the idea of making and eating it, she is happy to change diet, take herbs etc, but I need something that will improve the integrity of the gut, that does not affect the baby,

thanks for your help,

Shobana

Have you made her aware of the possibility of Pagets disease? If not maybe you should ask her to check with her GP.LorraineLorraine Hodgkinson AHG MRCHMHERBS AND HELPERS6, Butts Fold, Cockermouth,Cumbria, CA13 9HY. Hello Annette,Pagets disease may present exactly exactly as you describe. An eczema like, itchy dry rash around the nipple area. In a differential diagnosis this should be considered.Lorraine Lorraine Hodgkinson AHG MRCHMHERBS AND HELPERS6, Butts Fold, Cockermouth,Cumbria, CA13 9HY. Ok - the eczema is not on the breast area, but on her face, her head, her body, in fact all over really, and gets itchy,I have a hunch about gut permeability as her itchiness is so much more pronounced according to the foods she eats, I have not done a lab test, Warm wishesShobanaNaturopath, Herbalist, Iridologist, Allergy Therapistshobana@...Tel: 07817 415518www.naturepath.co.uk I didnt read the original post as being specifically eczema on the breast just that the woman was breast feeding and so certain herbs were contra indicated... regards ,annette Re: Breast feeding mum with gut permeability and dry itchy skin Have you made her aware of the possibility of Pagets disease?
