Guest guest
, As to the second matter first, I'm so glad you mentioned that about not being able to keep up with everyone. I have the exact same trouble -- plus I'm on a guaifenesin list also -- and am also finding it difficult to remember who is who. Sometimes the E-mail addresses even start to look alike. My memory is very poor from the fibromyalgia, CFS, Lyme disease, and some days it's a challenge just to remember WHO I AM! The only suggestion I have for that problem is to give nicknames to each of us, but that's just more to try and remember. Wonder if I could even remember my own nickname. I sympathize with your fear and desire for intercourse. I am in the middle of the same thing. It had been a long time since we had tried it, but a couple of weeks ago after I had started using Estrace cream for about 1-1/2 weeks I felt much less pain and we very slowly and gently attempted intercourse and were successful with partial intercourse. My husband avoided full penetration for fear of causing me pain, and that was fine with me. I had no pain during and, miraculously, no pain afterward. That's something I haven't experienced in a very long time. I haven't tried it again since -- partly because of my menstrual cycle, but mostly because of FEAR -- but one of these days I'll get up the guts to again. I know exactly how you feel and I wish you all the very best of luck. Janis > The first one is personal and I will say in advance thank you for input. Guest guest
: There have been a couple of things that have helped me achieve less painful intercourse (NOTE: not pain free, but less painful): 1) Estrace: applied topically (about 1 " strip) to labia minora (both sides) and to Bartholin glands. This has accounted for a near 75% reduction in pain with intercourse. 2) Being VERY aroused: I don't know if I get to a point where I just don't care about the pain, or if the increased secretions help, or what exactly - but I have even achieved completely pain free intercourse one time when I was incredibly aroused. 3) Astroglide: an excellent lubricant, which I use even if I am very lubricated already from my own secretions. We apply it to my husband's penis and put some into my vagina as well. 4) Relaxation (diaphragmatic) breathing: I try to really relax and be aware of my muscles and breathing. I usually tense up my vaginal muscles and then release them right before he enters me. While he enters me, I exhale deeply. 5) Communication with partner: VERY important. I've found that sometimes his positioning/angle of entrance can make a huge difference. I tell him to aim " up " instead of " down " and that works for us. 6) Starting out with missionary position: This is the ONLY thing that works for me. I can usually go into doggie style after we've gotten into the rhythm of things, but I can not begin any other way besides missionary. I also cannot have him lying on me, but rather he has to essentially do a push up and hold himself up while he enters me. 7) Aveeno bath immediately after intercourse: This helps to get all the 'stuff' out of me - which helps a great deal to reduce irritation. 8) ICE: works wonders immediately following intercourse. The combination of Aveeno and Ice usually prevents me from flaring up too badly the next day. HOPE THIS HELPS!! > I would really like to try intercourse again someday soon and wanted > to know if anybody had any tips to relieve the pain ie. positions, > creams, dilators anything, I am desperate. > The other thing that I was wondering is if anybody else is having trouble keeping up with > everybody. Guest guest
, First of all, I sympathize with you. Its awful to want to have intercourse and know how much your partner does, but to have so much fear get in the way. A couple of things that my husband I have found helpful are taking things VERY VERY slow and not having penetration as the ultimate goal. I have a much harder time being ready if I am worried about it, so if that's what happens, great, if not, well that's ok too. Also, we've found Astroglide to be much better than any other lubricants that we have tried. Finally, and I'm sure this is different for everyone, I find postions where I'm on top much more comfortable. It's also nice because then I can be more in control and he doesn't have to worry so much about hurting me. Hope this helps and good luck! Guest guest
I've tried Lidocaine (same thing as xylocaine). YOu just put it right on the places that hurt and nowhere else. That way you're hopefully only numb where you want to be. Your partner has to be careful not to get it on himself for the same reason. Be careful though, because it made my burning much much worse because it is often in an alcohol base. Some people have had good luck with it though. Guest guest
How do you keep the lancet sterile? How do I store them after I use it for next time? The nurse at my Dr.'s office told me to use the lancets only once. Using them more than once will save me money. Dianne
Guest guest
The strips are indeed the most expensive part! You can get a free meter from many companies cause they want you to buy their strips :0 Re: sticking your finger... if you're type II and not on insulin, sticking your finger BEFORE you eat isn't telling you much. You need to stick your finger 1 1/2 to 2 hrs AFTER you eat. This will tell you what the food you ate is doing toyour bg's. If you're 150 before you eat, you're probably a lot higher after you eat. Carbs (cereal, bread, pasta, rice, potatoes etc) will indeed drive your bg's up quite a bit. I do Atkins - controls them very well Meenie > > My Dr. has me sticking my fingers 4 times a day. Guest guest
I only use a couple of lancet's a year unless I test someone else's blood, then of course I change lancets. Guest guest
Diane. Lancets aree stainleess steel, they seem to have no blood on them. I leave them undisturbed in the lance. I leave my tapes in the meter when done to dry out, then they don't stain anything, can be disposed of easily. Sam
