Guest guest
I am looking for realistic goals/prognosis on a 7 y.o. F/S Doberman with Wobblers. She has had 3 surgeries because she keeps breaking her implants!! Sounds like the owners didn't really confine her after the first 2 surgeries. She now has so much muscle atrophy, I can see her femoral condyles! She is of course, completely non-ambulatory, but manages to pull herself around with her teeth (fractured a couple doing that). She can push herself up into a sternal position with her forelimbs, but cannot stand. She has full-thickness wounds over her hips and shoulders (both sides) from being laterally recumbent and no muscle mass. To understate it, she is a mess. Money is a HUGE concern...the last 2 surgeries were done at no charge, and there really isn't any money for rehab. I don't have a pool (not that she could get in anyway with her wounds). I don't know what goals I should set for her...owners would want her " normal " but I am thinking a cart at best. Is this girl too far gone? ANY help is appreciated! n
