Guest guest
Hi Jay You can get them to swallow stuff if you disguise it. Chamomile tea in pear juice will help - use pear concentrate and diulte with chamomile tea. You can also get them to swallow just about anything if you don't make a fuss about it - patients might not listen to you on that one, but direct them to supernanny or that woman with the programme about killing kids with junk food. My son had a phase of getting mouth ulcers when he was about 8 and he used to ask for myrrh as a mouthwash. I've never had any trouble getting an child to take medicine - the parents usually make the problem. You could be really creative and make them medicinal sweets - if you've got a copy of Culpeper I think you'll find recipes in the back for things like cough candy - just substitute the herbs according to complaint. You might be able to find a recipe for boiled sweets online - substitute water content for herb tea. If they have a bug - starve them. Just keep their fluids up if they have diarrhoea. You can feed them fruit and give them fruit juice to drink or fruit juice diluted with water. This gives them a little energy but gives the bugs nothing to grow on. Contrary to what you might be thinking, it won't go straight through them. Bowels firm up, bugs die, and in about 24 hours you can stop being accused of child cruelty. BTW - it works just as well for adults. One more thing - stewed apples. They're specific for diarrhoea and you can put a pinch of cinnamon in as well. Hope that helps. ======================================== Message Received: Dec 18 2007, 05:10 PM To: " UKherbal list " <ukherbal-list > Cc: Subject: kids' tummies Hi all, A patient has asked me for bright ideas about how to treat grandchildren's upset tummies by any means other than getting them to swallow stuff. I'm not actually treating the kids at the moment, it's granny who is a patient of mine, but grandkids stay with her a lot and get a lot of tummy upsets so doubtless I will soon. Any bright ideas? I thought of camomile by bath/footbath and via mum if breastfeeding but not sure how much good this will do. What if it's a bug? all suggestions gratefully received jay x --------------------------------- Sent from Yahoo! - a smarter inbox.
Guest guest
Hi Jay Bioacidphilus to correct bacterial balance is always useful - Biocare do a range of children's powders in either strawberry or banana flavour - quick to dissolve in a smoothie, or fruit juice (and undetectable by picky toddlers). If they're getting a lot of upsets it sounds as if something is basically wrong with their digestion; good to check if they have had courses of antibiotics recently which will have put their bacterial balance out of whack and also disordered the immune system. Also massaging the abdomen often helps, I have found that adding zingiber e.o. is warming, anti-spasmodic and combats nausea in such cases. Hopes this helps - good luck! Guest guest
Hi Jay, You could ask her to gently massage the child's belly in a clockwise direction with an oil made up of 30 ml vegetable oil and up to 15 drops of dill EO. It also may help to massage the child's back (lumbar) as well, again in a clockwise fashion. Guest guest
massaging tummy in clockwise motion with carrier oil + a few drops lavender EO or Chamomile EO can be very effective, esp. when there is trapped gas/constipation. Also useful if tummy upset is associated with stress. all the best Sabine kids' tummies > Hi all, > > A patient has asked me for bright ideas about how to treat grandchildren's upset tummies by any means other than getting them to swallow stuff.
