It is a good thing I found this list. I am also on a hypoglycemic list,

that led me to a yeas list, which led me here. It sure seems like all these

things are tied in together.

.... I knew better (in my head at least) - I *just* finished the classes. I'll

pick up some boxes of juice I think and stash them - can't do the straight sugar

thing. Ewww. My friend asked me how many meters I have (two; one in the car

and one at home) and

suggested I pick up another one and leave it at my desk. But I usually do bring

it up - just got sloppy on Sunday - I've been working too much.

For sure, now, however, I know what they're talking about it and will avoid it

in the future.

Thanks all,

Judith

Hi, I haven't introduced my self yet but have a question to ask. I recently

started taking glyberide and 2 days ago had my first hypoglycemic episode.

I didn't see lights or any thing but was having trouble functioning etc.

any way when it was over I was very tired and 'napped' for nearly 3 hours.

Is this caused by the low bs? does it happen to anyone else? shar

Hi Shar- I have low bloodsugars on a regular basis. It takes me an entire day to feel

"normal" most times. I get really tired for a while, but then after a rest I am hyper for

the rest of the day. It is a great way to keep on top of housework.(haha)

Only kid-

ding. It is not funny. You tend to feel listless and dragging. The mental part is the worst part to get over because it seems to take forever for your mental state to catch

up to where your physical state ends up. Hope this helps. Take care

I also used to have lows, felt very bad, like a heart attack without the pain. Usually at night. I'd wake up with it, and pace the floor for hours. DH got so that he would sleep through my episodes and I'd get so angry with him, I was that anxious. I was totally incapable of thinking straight. I finally realized, after testing several times in a row, that my bg's were plunging, and I'd go drink two-three oz. of oj, and that would help. I've been told it was the liver dumping glucose to overcompensate for the lows. Since I've been on glucophage these episodes have stopped.

Most people are tired after a hypo. It ususally knocks me off track for about a day.

Hi Shar :)

Welcome ! yep, hypoglycemic episodes are caused by low bg's. Hypo means Low and glycemic means sugar (glucose).

Glyburide causes your pancreas to produce more insulin. When you're type II and insulin resistant it takes awhile for the insulin to get into the cells. Medications that cause more insulin to be manufactured in your body are using that excess insulin like a battering ram. Once they break in, look out! I was on glyburide for one week after being first diagnosed. I had constant lows and felt miserable and jittery the entire time. After the first couple of days the doctor lowered it to the lowest dose (lowest dose pill broken in half once a day) and I still had lows. So he took me off of it, boy did that feel better!
