Guest guest
I have a question. I have had migrains for a long time. But a new and scarrrrrry experience the other night ocurred. I had had migraines the blindness in my left eye. The other night I saw red and blue lines the went blind then the pain started. I was rushed to the nurse that lives near by with a BP very high. I told her several times it was not my BP because it has always been good. She insisted it was BP. i left well enough alone after taking Pain meds for head and it kept going. I took more pain meds and more. BTW I have been med free for 5 years. It is a struggle but I try for my girls. When I take meds for more than 2 days It messes up my system (eat lots of fiber but no help) and starts back pain and cannot walk. So Dr. today says i am having migraines with aura. If I cannot take meds how do I stop them they have been comming on rapidly and frequently? Has anyone tried HeadOn!? I know the commercial is annoying. But I want to see if it works. Or any suggestions? It was very scarry because I went blind in both eyes this time. If you have tried it and it work I will apply directly to forhead. Guest guest
Hi , I have had migraines like this since I was 14 and in high school (18 years worth). I used to get them every month and people advised that it was probably due to my menstrual cycle but I couldn't find a rhyme nor reason to them in the long run. They are scary, I have gotten used to them now. I don't get them as often now. I think it is because my serotonin is a bit more stabilized due to Zoloft and Wellbutrin. Ever since I started taking anti-depressants it eased up some. My layperson guess is that your bp was high because, quite simply, you were scared! When I first started getting them, remember I was only 14 and no one else in my family had these types of headaches, my parents assumed that I was just having a panic attack. I've had plenty of those in my life and they never included loss of sight. What you may find, and what has been a comfort to me, is that the " aura " part typically lasts between 30-45 minutes and you should just lay down, close your eyes, possibly put a pillow on the side that feels most affected and just zone out. I always look at the clock (as much as possible) or ask someone around me what time it is when it starts so I can kind of guesstimate when it will be over. I also take meds right away. Aleve takes about an hour, but then completely demolishes any pain. But I have (thankfully and gratefully) a whole slew of Rx pain meds now so I just take those, go to bed and slowly come out only after my vision has been restored for an hour or so. I found that if I come out too soon after my vision has come back and I start to try and resume life as normal, I often end up back in the same spot again. So better to just take it as a message from your brain telling you to take a breather. I used to worry that I had a tumor, and later possibly MS. But they only found one little white spot in my brain (a scar) when I had an MRI done. So it made me feel better that they are not always indicative of anything more serious. Let me know if you have any other questions and take care! Blessings, > > > I have a question. I have had migrains for a long time. But a new and > scarrrrrry experience the other night ocurred.
