That's wonderful news!

How did you get assigned to a social worker? This is exactly what I, and

probably a number of other members need.

And good for you for speaking up!!! I hope you're able to get everything

you need.

My SW getting me help

My NEW social worker came over and we were discussing my health and she

offered to have my program through health and human services (Long Term Care

Community Options Program) pay for me to go for massage and also to see someone

whom she sees for meditation, stress management, biofeedback etc. for chronic

pain.

I did alot of complaining! I called the county supervisor in my area and he

called the head of that dept. as I only knew who her supervisor was and he is

lazy himself. I told the dept. head my complaints and in 2 days had a new

worker. I am sure he was not too happy seeing my file so empty proving that she

was not doing her job and getting paid for it. The county supervisor also

happend to be someone whom I gew up in my hometown.

Is this in Canada or the U.S.?

What Dept. did he call?

I live in Cook County, which is the 2nd largest county in the U.S.

Annette,

What type of insurance do you have... Even with prescriptions, my

health insurance and my workers compensation will not cover

biofeedback, chiropractic, massage, aquatherapy, stresss management,

and many other services... As always, check with your insurance

before getting any therapy. I would hate for you to get all of this

done, even with a prescription, and have your insurance say, sorry,

we won't cover this...

Yes! Any more, not only get insurance preauthorization of coverage but on

expensive procedures, get advance payment as well. Seems things are

getting worse along these lines! Ken - Colorado Springs

No my insurance does NOT cover any of these things. I am in a program covered

by the state that my Social Worker fills out paper work. I am alloted so much

money depending on how sick I am. I also get a caretaker provided for me

through this funding which has nothing to do with insurance. It is through a

Long Term Care Program that my state has. They buy me medical equipment that is

not covered and things that are NOT covered by insurance.

What state are you in? Is there anyone else from your state on the

board that could maybe benefit from the servise... Because if it is

in Michigan, I will beat you with a wet noodle if you don't chare

that information!

Just knowing someone cares and is willing to help me really helps. Most

professionals wil not go to bat for you and only care that they are getting paid

and have what they need but she was a real person with feelings, not a robot.

It just makes everything else worse. Little things mean alot--don't

they?
