Guest guest
I saw the eye doc last week. My eyes are great. Perfect vision. No demyelinating signs. Nothing. So, whatever is going on, isn't. LOL At least not with a name. My Mother reminded me that there are times the Ophthalmologists see what's going on with her eyes, and times they don't. She did encourage me to ask the list what test it is they do for field of vision (?). To check where you're seeing, from each side, stuff along those lines which I can't recall. <g> If you know what I'm trying to think of, can you help me with the name of the test and the purpose? The doc did say I needed something (thought he said field of vision, but not sure now) and said he didn't have the equipment up here (he travels up once a week). I wasn't terribly thrilled when he said he saw nothing. I guess I kinda thought this one would be easy. There were all sorts of things coming up while I was in the Valley. Of course, now they're slipping away, as I find my brain is getting thicker and slower in thought processes. I wish I had written them down while there. I find I'm losing my ability to articulate, and to recall things. This as I near my first visit with a Neuro. I want it all fresher and I want to be able to express myself to him. I need to pull out a notebook and try to keep at it all this week, at least noting what I feel now. I experienced some trouble with speech in the Valley. This is a first for me. My tongue felt thick and stiff. My Mother, on the phone, told me she thought she could hear it. I didn't want to know that. I feel it again today. My tongue for sure, my mouth, maybe? <shrug> Like very cold skin... a nose when it's icy outside and you wrinkle it up. A feeling similar to that, I guess. I've felt the tinglies and crawlies again, on different sides of my back/ribs... that's not new. And I felt my head tingle. That's just been numb for so long, it was a surprise to feel the tingles again. (I'm noticing the left side of my face isn't quite as numb as it's been -- and that's been years). Crawlies... there are two types. The sort that feel on top of the skin, and the sort that feel under the skin. The latter feel like worms wriggling about under there. My spasms came on for a few good bouts in the Valley. The twitching and fluttering, and the pain. It's harder to disguise the pain. Then a good solid pain in my thigh, or thighs, among other things. A twitching, spasm and pain in spots I don't even want to find a name for (finding a lot of that this week). Tired. Exhausted. Wanting to sleep yet knowing it won't make a difference anyway. Slow in thinking, but not really related to the tired. Letters not writing in the order or way I want them when jotting notes. Fingers not typing so well. On it goes. Sure wish I'd written these things down at the time... and sure wish I'd pull out that book now. lol I better go do it. Oh yeah... balance. That's another one. And a walking in circles sort of feeling (?). And just tippy. neared me in the kitchen one day while I felt it, I thought I fall over when he leaned in to kiss me. I had to grab his shirt. This is fun. Notebook... seeking that notebook... lol Challis ~~SSgt. B. HobbsDied Oct. 2004(Afghanistan) A man of great integrity and incredible faith. Guest guest
A field vision test is where you sit a darkened room in front of the field vision machine, cover one eye at a time and you hit a button (I felt like a game show contestant) each time you see a little spot of light, you hit the button. It just takes a few minutes per eye. The one problem I had was trying to sit up to the machine. I kept sliding off the chair because I was numb in the bum and couldn't tell exactly where I was sitting. I hope you have better luck than I did. Let us know how things turn out. Guest guest
Visual Field tests are painless, but a great tool. Mine showed a lot of peripheral loss, and it can detect changes, if it is done on a regular basis. I have one every 6 months, from the Optic Neuritis. I find it hard to stare at the center light though...my eye gets tired.
