Guest guest
- Your post brought back a memory with my dad. One of the first times my dad was transferred to the Adult Psychiatric Unit, and was still able to talk a bit, he told me someone was floating above him. I asked if he could describe this person and he said, " It's your mother " ...my mom had been gone over 20 years at that time. And, if anyone can come check on someone it would be my mom. I have seen/heard signs of my mom since she passed in 1983. So, I do believe our loved ones passed do check on us, and that we do have Guardian Angels around us. Thank you for sharing this story. It was a comfort to recall this memory of my dad. Hugs to you- Sandie -- " " wrote: FYI - Mom won't be part of the paper afterall. His paper is focusing on rapidly progressive dementia - and b/c in retrospect I thought of possible symptoms going back 2-3 years, her dementia wasn't considered 'rapid' -- until she received the antipsychotic med. and then it became 'rapid'. I appreciate the doctor emailing me though - made me feel good. Part of what he wrote was: " Although her diagnosis was puzzling initially, I think it would be difficult to label this a 'rapidly progressive dementia' because of the prolonged premorbid history. So, my inclination is to not include her case in the report I'm writing. This is not to say your mother's case was not atypical, because I can tell it was, and a lot of clinicians learned from taking care of her. It may have been her strong, independent personality that allowed her to remain so functional and escape diagnosis for so long. " (Ain't THAT the truth! ) Here's a funny... In the journal I sent to him to read I mentioned a time my mom was to meet my sister & I for lunch and she got lost and a stranger (angel) walked her to the restaurant. B/c I wrote 'angel' the doctor thought I meant she hallucinated the stranger with an explanation of " Patients with LBD often sense a shadowy presence over their shoulder, and this may have been the " angel " that accompanied her... " I let him know that the 'angel' was real b/c we saw him. LOL But that's an interesting statement he said, isn't it? I have a picture of my mom at the NH with her looking up to the left like she's looking at whatever is over her shoulder - hmmmmm.... > > PS Received a phone call last night from the neurologist who wants to > do his case report on my mom's journey. Will be emailing mom's > history this AM and he'll call again for follow-up questions. I think > my mom's story is very important to spread to other doctors - maybe > they won't make the same mistakes on others as they did with mom. > Maybe mom & I will save another family from heart ache.
