Guest guest
Hi again all- I have a lady I care for occassionally she got a vest off the internet- about 2 years ago-- she has also contacted a company in UK and US-- to see the cost-- as she has a relative in who needs or wants one-- So I do know you can get hold of them here in oZ. BUT in saying this I also know that there are many ways to get as good results-- Acapella--Flutter-- I use PD-- I know also of people who use hand held massagers work as good-- and if you use saline in neb or shower- steam before use makes it so much easier . I have very little muccous-- BUT 3 times a day I do need to get whatever little is there up and out-- I use heat pad- ( electric) and 2-3 glasses of water before and after. I use a pillow and cough deep and hard-- use my puffer and breathe correctly for a few minutes before and after- and whammo up she comes- could be as little as what would cover a 20c piece. BUT if I don,t get up, I have asthma- and so much difficulty with tiredness, chest wheeze and pain-- It’s a must to get it up and out. Guest guest
Hi Joy I spoke to lady from the coy that sells the Vest in Aus last year. She said they are happy to let people try the vest for a few weeks - can't remember how many - provided you buy the cover. This is for hygiene reasons. The covers cost $600. They also said they are trying to get them into hospital where patients can borrow them as they are too expenxive for most people to buy. She was keen to get my dr's name so she could approach the hospital through him. It must be beautiful in our part of the world at the moment. It's still chilly down here but the sun is shining. I hope we get more rain or we'll be in for even tighter water restrictions in summer not to mention greater bushfire danger. Keep well everyone. Theresa Access Yahoo!7 Mail on your mobile. Anytime. Guest guest
Thx Theresa - do you have a contact via email, or 1800 # for the Vest. Hospital/ specialists/ GP all very non-helpful disinterested.... Maybe I could ask her to send info out to docs/clinics etc up here Even the $600 is a bit much if can’t ultimately have access to use a Vest afterward! The weather is gorgeous, to toooooo darn hot!! Am dressed as for summer, still sweating! I really enjoy the ‘cool-down’ time here, but not getting much this year.... And it’s already half-way thru winter.... Maybe ‘global warming’ has hit Cairns!!! Keep warm!!, and thx for the info, joy
Guest guest
Hi Sandy, (funny thing is your post comes as an attachment plus post....???) re vest, I checked Hill-Rom web site, emailed them, no response as yet. Did you find out the contact in Sydney or Melb for Australia? Re nebuliser....no mention, ever, thru hospital. I had to buy my own, even then I wouldn’t have had a clue if it wasn’t for this chat group what it was or who to purchase from. At last some COOOOOLer weather......was a long summer, no cold weather even yet ... I wouldn’t mind, if only for the sake of wearing different clothes!!!! Tho maybe it’s just as well, cos last wk days I broke out in shingles, all around lower ribs...anything touching is aaaarrrrggghhh!!! Luckily it’s warm enough to wear loose, light clothing. I’ve heard people talk about shingles being painful, whew, now I know why!! How are you after your smog and fog trips... I hope life was kind to you and didn’t give you too hard a time... Tis late, time for g’night joy
