Hi Tamara,My first impulse would be to put CS or tea-tree with some DMSO on the bite site. Also maybe drink a lot of CS, in case any pathogens got into your blood. I really don't know if this is good advice or not; just what I'd do.So sorry this happened. I hope others will jump in here.Be well,Léna Hi all, Im in Florida on vatcation with my family which would normally be quite exciting because I'm able to travel this year after three years of being to sick to go anywhere. I did find a tick in my head last night. It was a large tick. It was not blown up and it was dead. I don't know where it came from. I still have one dog at home but I had my hair colored right before I left and my hairdresser swears he would have seen a tick while he was coloring my hair. My mother in law has a dog that has been sleeping with me. I don't know what to do. I don't have my rife or most of my arsenal here. My head is not sore so I don't think it really attached. It was semi attached though. There is no bulls eye in my head. What do I do next? Tamara

Hopefully, it wasn't a Lyme infested tic.Take care,

You could take a homeopathic: Ledum 30c 2-3 times a day for 4 days if you think you were bit.Everyone might want to keep Ledum homeopathic in their cupboard in case they get bit by a tick. It's also great for any type of puncture wounds and prevents tetenus. Google it and read about it.Regards,Lydia Just brain storming here - things you could get at a local supplement store....Salt/CColloidal Silver (lots of it)Teasel (if you're lucky)Even a whole bunch of raw garlic throughout the day Hopefully, it wasn't a Lyme infested tic.Take care,On Fri, Apr 16, 2010 at 4:48 AM, tamarashorr <tshorrcomcast (DOT) net> wrote: Hi all, Im in Florida on vatcation with my family which would normally be quite exciting because I'm able to travel this year after three years of being to sick to go anywhere. Hi Tamara,

If you can get ahold of Doxycyline, take 200 mgs and this should kill any early

infections... Pet stores may carry this. You can get a new acute infection

along with your chronic infection, best to be safe than sorry... Check your

inbox...

Tamara-

I understand that antibiotics before a tick bite has a chance to let the Lyme spread has a very good rate of cure (if in fact, the tick actual has Lyme). I think 2 weeks is supposed to be the target time range. I would RUN and get either amoxycillin (sorry for spelling) or doxy. I know 3 people who had tick bites and small bulls eyes and none of them have had any issues at all since. One happened over 15 years ago, one 3 years ago, and the other somewhere in between. I wish I had done that.

Hi Tamara,

I think the large ticks are usually

called wood ticks, I don't think carry lyme disease like the deer ticks.

I would put some peroxide or antiseptic to cleanse the area.

Enjoy your vacation, you deserve it!

Any type of tick can carry disease. It's just another misconception that it is

deer ticks only. Did you save the tick. If so, send it to IGENIX. It's $$$ to

get all the coinfection testing, but worth it for the peace of mind. We sent

one to them last year and were told the testing is quite accurate for ticks. I

would seriously consider pulsing abx.

Hi ,

It was a wood tick. I don't really trust anymore that they are safe but I think

I am ok. I have Cumanda and I hve been taking it every couple of hours.

I will be home on Monday so I think I'll be ok. Its just a little unsettling.

I'm trying to have a good time anyway.

From what I've heard in the last year, Lyme is now carried by biting flies and mosquitoes as well as ticks in some paces. I wish I could remember where I read that. Dea,

I'm going to be home on Monday and have abx there. I keep an arsenal for my

dog and I will take his. In the meantime I have cumanda and I am taking a

droperfull evey few hours. I am going to add silver today. (I have never taken

it) I am very nervous to take abx for this new bite because even though it will

be helpful for this new bite I stil have an older chronic infection and who

knows how that will make me feel.

Tamara,

Wood Ticks definitely DO carry TBI's!! Contrary to what some Health Depts. say

on their websites, and what many people think. I was bitten again with an

attached tick on my scalp last Memorial Day. In spite of taking doxy---and I

was on IV rocephin at the time for long-term Lyme---I got a BAD relapse! I even

got Bell's Palsy.

But the meds I was on weren't targeting Babesia, and I had gotten a re-infection

of that, so had to do the meds for that. Better to be safe than sorry. I hate

to take abx, but at a certain point, it's the lesser of two evils. The Bell's

Palsy never left 100% either.

Hi Tamara,

The very best advice I know of is if bitten by any kind of tick, don't try to

guess if it carries Lyme or not, a simple one time dose of Doxy 200mg will kill

off the infection... One should still look for symptoms just in case, but there

is a very high success rate with this 200 mg dose, especially if taken

immediately... This study says if taken within 72 hrs, BUT the sooner it is take

the better the success rate...

http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/short/345/2/79

I always keep a bottle of Doxy in the fridge, just in case of a new tick

bite....

Take care,

Jim
