Guest guest
Very interesting article... I see lots of implications here if you combine this information with other studies about how our brains grow in whatever areas we USE. Thus looks to me like a chicken/egg scenario. Do liars have more white matter because they CHOOSE to lie thus their brain developed more white matter?? Do high functioning autistics have less actual physical capacity to lie because they do not exercise that portion of the brain? Also is it really that parts of the AS brain don't light up that should light up in Mires or is it that the NT brain is lighting up in areas where it shouldn't? After all, lying is a negative trait in general. And while I have been able to learn to functionally following social rule lies designed to not hurt feelings, pathological liars don't seem to be able to learn to functionally follow social rules to not lie in order to be viewed as trustworthy. Just my thoughts, Jennie high functioning, dislikes lies/liars, learned under protest to socially lie but still prefers saying nothing at all or a very strict tiny piece of truth that is not hurtful than to have to lie. " LOL Or what they believe to be the 'truth'. But that's a whole 'nother topic. I've always liked this Atwood quote. It highlights so well one of the primary reasons why so many Aspies struggle, both in their social lives and in the workplace. Yet their priorities are inconsistent, I've noticed. In that the Aspie may be inclined to deliver the truth to others without regard for the feelings of the recipient. Yet be quick to experience hurt feelings when the truth is pointed out to them by others. Best, ~CJ
