Well, as I was trying to sift through the grammatical errors,I was

really trying to decipher what she (assuming it was a she from the

language talk) was trying to say and in addition, I was trying to

decide what your concern is about the e-mail.

I believe that the writer of this e-mail was trying to get a point

across about encouraging people with syndromes rather than just

giving up on them. In the midst of the grammatical errors, I noticed

she had difficulty relating facts correctly in regards to different

forms and varying degrees of Down syndrome, which is what I think she

was trying to convey in that respect.

Obviously, the writer of this e-mail also has a disability, of which I

do not think she is aware.

Perhaps, you could enlighten the group on exactly what your concern

is about the e-mail and we could better give an opinion how you could

respond? Sometimes, there is no response needed. :0)

respond to it. I was wanting to paste it here and get some opinions

if I should respond or not. It just doesn't sound correct.

> I have read a lot of your comments. CDC is like any other

syndrome. There are varitables. Even downs syndrome has a huge

number of different levels. Some are infants and never grow out of

it and some go through school and learn, just at a slower pace.

> Whatever level our child is, he or she is loved by the family for

who they are, not what they may become. There are varitables even in

the so called " normal " children. Each of us has a potential, and it

is up to our families and friends to see that we get the love,

encouragement and opportunities. Dana will never run a marathon, or

get a college degree like her sisters, but she is still learning at

the age of 46. The other day, she put her clothes in the washer,

poured the detergent in and started the machine. She had prompts,

but she did it. I know that she is " mentally retarded " (the dreaded

phrase), will always have difficulty and never be an Einstien, but I

have never put limitations on her. I told our family and friends

that we are all " mentally retarded " in a lot of ways. It just means

that in some areas, we are slow. Love your child and give him or her

the best you know how to give.
