Guest guest
I think you're absolutely right here, , and I'd almost lay a wager on it. If you remember, I'm a night worker, and you know there's got to be some reason for that. The way I got started on that was because what my sleep pattern had become (everything you describe), starting about 7 yrs ago, due to lifelong stressors, thyroids, etc...We know the story. Anyway, I was doing early morning days on the nursing floor. Yes, that is a more stressful shift in many ways, but I was extremely strong, lithe, fast, and gregarious, so I was perfectly suited to that. But when my thyroid began to fail even more, after around 3 yrs already on T4, I wondered what was happening to me. I began to be very lethargic in the morning, having to build up to my day's work emtionally and physically, but then, when I got off work at 2 in the afternoon, I would be tired, etc...not go to sleep...I would fight that because I knew that I would be unable to get up at 4 in the morning for work, if I went to sleep in the afternoon. Low and behold, I STILL would come wide awake at around 8 at night, despite having only 4-5 hrs the night before, and feeling so tired all day!!! I did not feel nervous at that time, just extremely wide awake, and all my senses were alive. I could do my best thinking at night, get the most work done, etc.....Sooo, I got the vertigo that I have described before, got extremely ill, and put in a request for the night shift. What little medical care that I got during that time said that it was probably inner ear, but, I have since learned about autoimmune disease of the inner ear, and this is what I believe happened---the thyroid, the inner ear, and extreme adrenal fatigue, all at the same time (this is the nearest I can figure because no doctor around me ever had enough sense to even try to figure it out). I went to the night shift for 4 and one half yrs. I then made an attempt to straighten out the sleep pattern by starting on an evening shift for one yr, but it was still impossible to do for ME. I enjoyed my job during the day sometime after I was there (2 pm), but when I got up in the morning, I would be nauseated for hrs, trying to get my body going, even after 7-8 hrs sleep, day after day. It didn't work, and I requested back to the night shift. The person who was so gregarious all her life, suddenly couldn't stand all that noise and movement, etc...plus was STILL coming wide awake at night (which was good on the job, since the bulk of my work was in the evening at that time). I still, to this very day, feel wonderful at night, and crappy in the mornings, trying to push my body to come alive. The only way it works for me at this point, is to work at night (nursing floor), then BE awake coming home in the mornings. This is the ONLY way that I feel good in the mornings because I've ALREADY been awake the night before. This is how I know that it's GOT to be adrenal in nature. I did start out on a quarter tab of the glandulars from Nutrimeds, but I keep dropping it because after a few days, I feel awful, with my heart pumping, can't sleep, react to my thyroid med, too hot, blood pressure up, and myriads of other things---all on a quarter tab. This has me puzzled, since I know that there is a problem there. I brought my Armour down to 45 mgs, taking it with 50 mcgs of Eutirox, and then tried again on the quarter tab of the adrenal glandular, but kept getting the same symptoms after 3 or 4 days. I don't know what's going on there, and that's why I said we NEED the blood testing, but alas, the money, so I'll just wait until I can test. I'd rather be safe than sorry. Guest guest
... try one of the things that I was doing when I was is such crappy shape after my RAI.... to reduce the shock of increases to my system the endo and I figured out that I should do the increase on the third day until I was adjusted to it.. then every other day, until I was used to it and then every day.... .... so, for example... do a quarter tab just two mornings (read as the start of your day) a week..... for a month???? see how you feel... That will be 3 day/4day intervals. If you are tolerating it... then go to a quarter tab every 3 days....... when that is going well.... go every other day..... and, when you're ready, every day...... When you are ready to increase... add the next quarter tab just twice a week.... and work your way up as your body will allow, until you are at 2 quarter tabs a day. See.. 20-20 hindsight tells me I should have done this thyroid increase that way... gradually adding that 6 th dose and not doing it every day.. but I was so determined that since so many others were taking more than me, even though they had smaller body sizes... that I should be able to do it too! WRONG... We simply have to keep in mind that we are not the same.... some of us are more sensitive to increases and others can just dive right in..... we have to do what is right for the body that we are trying to fix.... not match what someone else is doing and assume that it will work as well for us... .... this gradual introduction suggestion for adrenal may not be the key for you... but if you decide to check it out... well... sure would be cool to find the key that will help your body get better... wouldn't it? And if that isn't it... you'll know that there is a good chance that something else is still out of whack.... and you can concentrate on seeking it out, adrenal question will have been covered and you move on.
