Guest guest
Hi, My doctor prescribed a very new hypnotic, starnoc, recently. It put me to sleep very quickly and I slept solidly for five hours. Of course being awake at 4 a.m., albeit, rested and very comfortable, is still not what I'm after. I'm hope it's not bothering others, but I am wondering what RSD is, that others were sharing about recently. Thanks, Jean =====
Guest guest
FYI, Starnoc is the Canadian name for the U.S. med Sonata. It's a hypnotic sleep-inducer which is not a member of the benzodiazapene class. It is not designed to increase total sleep time, or the number of awakenings. There is less of a hangover effect. Abuse potential is similar to the benzo's. It's designed just to help you get to sleep. The above info is from my psych med guide. Guest guest
Donna, Please be very careful with the xanax. Right now, it's the #1 Rx med responsibly for admits to rehab than all others. It's a wonderful med, but the potential for physical addition is very high. Do you know what dosage Ambien they gave you? It comes in 10, 15 and 20 mg. I'd fall over anywhere with 20 mg! The way you are supposed to take Ambien is to get into bed when you are not planning on getting out for several hours, and then take it. Some doctors tell their patients that, and others don't. I just took my first Cymbalta pill last night. It made me very sleepy. Didn't need to take anything else, had no side effects, and felt fine this morning. The fact that it help with nerve pain and fibro is even better, although it will take some time to tell how it helps and how much. I'm mentioning this because it's a good idea to get off xanax and all benzo's every few months, and try something else like trazadone for a couple weeks. Once the xanax is out of your system (you do have to taper off of it), then you can go back on, and not worry about physical addiction. But if you can take it no more than needed, without having to increase the dosage after a few months, more power to you!!! Hugs, Dix Re: Re: sleep medication Needless to say I went back on Xanax for sleep. . . .
Guest guest
My psych and I have been tinkering around with these hypnotics for the past 6-8 months or so, trying to find one that works consistently, and keeps working for longer than a month or 2, with very little success. I've gone back and forth on several meds, trying to keep from getting " immune " to them. If anything, my insomnia has just gotten worse! So I've just decided to heck with all of them! I'm going back to something I KNOW works, without fail, and I've never had a problem with my body becoming habituated to it. Today when I saw my psych, I told him that I wanted to go back on Seroquel for sleep. It takes no more than 50mg to knock me out, and it's guaranteed to work. I'm not leaving whether I will sleep or not to chance anymore! Please keep us updated on how the Cymbalta works for you. I'm very excited to see if it actually benefits Fibro patients as well as they say it is supposed to. If it's the " breakthrough " they say it is, I'll be next in line!
