Building a Doug Coil Machine.

Already wound the coil and bought the caps and resistors. I am going to use

standard AC light switches from Home Depot for $0.70 each. I plan to initially

use a laptop as a signal generator and will use a 300 watt audio amplifier that

I can get for free. So my initial outlay is going to be low as a tryout.

A couple questions for anyone in the know....

- I know the recommended amp is much more powerful. How does anyone know how

much power is required.

- I see people driving their coils till they get hot. Has anyone tried using

lower power settings and longer times as a comparison?

I see other much lower power machines (even 9V batteries) that people claim are

effective. The Doug Coil is running the recommended amp at a lower than

recommended impedance load. The coil w/ resisters is less than an ohm at the

resonant frequency. Is this because the design depends on the amp to current

limit the output?

I also decided to use stranded copper instead of solid. As you can see my

initial trial is dependant on the Doug Coil being effective at lower power than

the design on his web site.
