Guest guest
Do any of you find yourself avoiding social situations? For example I was invited to a BBQ tomorrow and I had decided not to go. I don't know these people well but they are friends of my son's and my son-in-law works for them. They are closer to my age than my kids so I should feel comfortable with them. When I am invited somewhere I usually say I get too tired to go. And that is true but it's also due to my brain fog and articulation problems. What are your thoughts on this? How do you deal with these problems? This is one that is so very hard for me......I try to articulate an idea and it just won't come out....I HATE it!!!......my whole life I have depended on my brain to *get me through* and now, it is like it is not there.....and I keep apologizing and that makes me feel worse....since I can't drive right now I don't get out much as everyone I know is so busy...that is hardest on my kids......at this point I avoid a lot.....but then I have a lot of new things since the last attack......I got my new scooter yesterday and now, I am kinda afraid to drive it.....I don't know....just some thoughts on your post.... Guest guest
I find myself avoiding activities mostly that involve walking because my gait (sp?) is different from what it used to be. I have a very defined limp, and due to the fact that I have fallen several times, I am very cautious, which defines the limp even more. My neuro gave me a script for a cane last month, but I haven't been able to bring myself to it as of yet. I have never looked at people differently because of disabilities that make it necessary to use a cane, walker, or wheelchair, but for some reason, I am afraid people will look at me differently. Guest guest
Hi : That sounds wonderful. Could you tell me where you found it? Also, was the cost affordable? The reason we got the script from my neuro was cost efficiency. Our insurance will cover the cane with only the co-pay as our responsibility. I have thought of a cane that you described, but was unsure if we could afford it. Thank you for the great suggestion. Winnie

Guest guest
Oh yes, I worry about not being able to find the right word and the slurring. I find it really embarrassing and would rather say nothing than make an arse out of myself. That's why I've started to 'come out of the closet' with people I deal with on a regular basis. I'm also concerned about freaking out the kids at my son's school, so I've told them I let myself get run down and am now being treated for it but it will take time and asked them to bear with me in the meantime (that was when I thought it was only the B 12 deficiency). I also skipped the fieldtrip last week because I knew I couldn't manage for that many hours, but I have to go to the awards ceremony this Thursday. I'm trying to take each situation as it arises, and to remember that it doesn't do any good to overdo it for several reasons(worsening symptoms etc). My main concern is to have the energy and health for the important things and not to fritter it away on lots of other activities that don't matter that much. Guest guest
Hi Zora, Wow, much more than her canes! I went to her site and cruised around, and her philosophy towards being "differently abled" and having MS is unbelievable! http://www.windchimewalker.net/index.html Sam Zora wrote: Here is nice URL. Guest guest
Yes, I like her attitude. She seems to be into everything. Great soul. I do correspond with her now and then, I known her for few years. There is great free on-line course, which is finishing now, but they are going to have it again in May, you can participate even if you do not have books, they do have few lectures which can be printed and they are good, it is something what starts person to use her/his creativity!!!! The course: How to think like Leonardo Da Vinci barnesandnoble.com university...............just need to register and presto! Do check it ....you never know!
