According to this social worker the teacher has an OBLIGATION to

call if she " suspects abuse " . Which sounds like it translates

to: " This is how we cover ourselves from any action you attempt to

take. "

Cinnamon,

Sadly, I have been thru this 2 times now. Don't worry. You have

NOTHING to fear at all. The social worker wil talk to you, and find

out what is going on. Make sure you have all of tnhe numbers of

Cassie's dr's on hand, and give them to the worker. She's required to

call and follow up with any numbers you have. Also, if Cassie has a

teacher that she did very well with, or even a teacher's aide or

therapst that has seen her in her school environment when Cassie

doesn't hate the school, give them that person's number and a way to

contact them. Even if the teacher is in another state, they will

follow up. Let me know how it goes, ok hon? BTW, and FWIW, I know how

you feel...truly....mad, sad, scared, depressed, the whole slew of

it. Take care, and feel free to email me if you just need to talk...

Thats right, a teacher is a mandated reporter but it was probably the

school social worker who made the call after a discussion with the

teacher( they get stuck with doing this to justify a paycheck instead

of finding something better to do). Anyway, CPS probably will not

release the name of the reporter to " protect them " I hate all of

this bull-sh*t. The school is supposed to be helpful, not hurtful.

I need something. But it's gonna have to be free or very cheap

right now. And that's probably going to be a bit of an obstacle. And

yes she just showed up at my son's school. He was NOT HAPPY.

Neither was I. But they claim they are required *by law* to

investigate every *claim* and THEY will let YOU know when it's over.

When you know you haven't done anything wrong it's maddening. When

you know the stories about how they have sometimes twisted things to

suit their own purpose, it's scary.

Penny,

unfortunately CPS has alot more rights than they really should.

They can talk to your child without permission at any time if they

feel there is a need! I really hate CPS sometimes!

It comes down to that little *out clause* they have in being

*obligated by law* While I appreciate the original INTENT of that--

often it is simply used to bash truly innocent parents over the

head. To what end, I'm not sure. Unless it's just some kind of sick

power trip. But that is their cop....OOPS I mean *way* out.

Cinnamon

P.S. I haven't been able to find anything like the Regional Center

Advocates. I don't know if the area is just too small or what.

ime..they are required to investigate every claim against a parent...not

against a teacher or school personnel.
