Guest guest
Hi! Have a case we could use some guidance on. Puck is a 6 year old Wheaten with a history of suspected compartment disease/LF neuropathy. He had a caudal antebrachial fasciotomy on 9/2/10. We have been treated Puck for about month and a half using laser, US, ROM/stretch, weight bearing exercises, hydrotherapy. He is intermittently NWB and his digits seem to be contracted (Puck pics). We are able to get about 180 degree extension on the digits both awake and under sedation. We have not been making much progress so, our next thought was to add serial bracing. Unfortunately, the first brace caused bandaged pathology (it is unclear if the owners followed the brace wearing schedule). Does anyone have any other ideas on how to help poor Puck? Would you suggest resuming bracing (once the wounds are healed)? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Shumway LVT, CCRP, CCRA (and the rest of Team Rehab at the AMC)
