So as not to confuse our members who live on the other side of the pond...... Zaleplon (Starnoc, Sonata) was developed by the Danish drug company Lundbeck. It has subsidiaries all over the world. Sonata is Zaleplon's trademark name in the US, Starnoc is its trademark name in Canada. Around the world there are so many different trademark names for the same darn drugs that it can get really confusing when we use the trademark names instead of the drug names. Not knowing the appropriate drug name can really cause problems when travelling to other countries. Hi Jean It might be a good idea to ask your doctor if you may try Zoplicone (Imovane). It lasts longer than Zaleplon (Starnoc), so you should be able to sleep a little longer. My GP first prescribed it for me several years ago and I've never needed to change the dose or had any strange side effects from it. It's available as a generic as well, so it isn't too expensive and the generic works as well as the original. When I came down to the US, I found it wasn't available here (at least my US doc and pharmacist can't find it), so whenever I fly home to Canada, I get it refilled. -- Lyndi
Guest guest
Thanks for the info. I tried Ambian and fell backward into the bathtub when I got up to go to the bathroom. Needless to say I went back on Xanax for sleep. I learned a valuable lesson. donna
