Guest guest
Hi all, I thought I would post some updates. This is the start of week 6 on my first ever BFL challenge. It's really going well. When I started I had some right knee pain but that really has diminished with the weight training. I had seen an ortho doc about the knee right when I started and was told it was just some inflammation so I couldn't hurt it more. The weights really have helped strengthen the entire knee and I'm really happy about the lowered pain! I've been pretty good about both the working out and the eating. I don't always eat 6 meals a day, in fact I'm not that convinced that eating more often is really that important for me since I don't usually get that hungry between meals. When I do, I just eat one of the energy bars and that sets me right. But I definitely eat better foods and have largely stayed away from the " bad " stuff except on free days. What I like most about the way it has worked is that I don't really get down on myself if I break a rule now and then. For example, last week I had creme brulee (certainly NOT on the list!) one night. Mostly I've kept to eating the way I should, though. Drinking more water, etc. My workouts have been going pretty well too. I can certainly see some changes in the way my body is shaped. I started out at 217 for my 6 foot body and I'm not down to about 209 and have had to start tightening my belt one position - which is a very nice thing! And I've been able to start running outdoors again with my newly stronger legs not hurting - very way cool on that. I do the weights pretty much exactly as described but I've now started to just run for some longer periods of time than the 20 min Bill mentions in the book. I'm a bit scared of running faster and irritating the knee again so I stick to my turtle pace. I still feel like I'm working out harder than I was on the elliptical machine at the gym, though. And for me, that seems to be the point, to make every workout feel like I'm sweating and pushing myself harder and farther. Things seemed to start off slow, but they are going well. My goals at the beginning were to lose some weight (20 pounds is the goal) - right on target. See some visible changes in my waistline - on track Just enjoy more how I look - right on track And I got the bonus of being able to run again. Woo Hoo! This weekend is my birthday and man am I going to have a FREE DAY! I enjoy reading the posts by others and just seeing the other experiences. So Thanks to all.
