Guest guest
Dear List Does anyone have any experience of treating this condition? My aunt (in her 50s, so not in the typical age groups) has it on her left elbow and whilst it doesn't really bother her in terms of actual symptoms, it has got bigger and bigger and she has some self-consciousness about it. Having had it for about a year, it has now started on the other elbow (undersides not crooks of elbows). She is a violinist and experiences a lot of high intensity 'stress' as she is freelance and gets nervous about gigs, her playing ability, travel concerns - being on time/getting lost etc. She enjoys alcohol and is convinced she is fat, although at a size 14ish and 5'4 " ish, her weight is not problematic. Generally, I think she eats a pretty well-balanced diet with plenty of good quality fresh food. She is neither diabetic nor does she have a thyroid condition. Orthodox treatment seems to focus around steroids whether in creams or injections etc. So far, there seems to be nothing coming up in my research as to mechanism as there is no known cause (but most things don't have a 'cause' as far as it goes, do they). I think she would be most interested in a topical treatment. I am inclined towards a richly liquorice cream. Any thoughts/experiences anyone can share would be much appreciated. Thanks, Lucy
