Hi LeAnn, :o)

Yes, Barrows. LOL When my eldest was dxed with his BT (brain tumor), it was through a Ped Neuro at Barrows. His first hospital stay and surgeries were there, as was his first follow up with a Neuro Oncologist. I was quite happy to follow the Neurosurgeon to Phoenix Children's Hospital. <g> LOL

Barrows always had such a good reputation, and my grandmother was there many, many years earlier. We're not so impressed with it. My opinion was set after my Mother's stay there a couple years ago. The way they treated my Mother, and refused to acknowledge her MS.... still infuriates me! (lol)

I did call one of my Mother's old Neuros. She's had two I like (know are good) and neither take the insurance I have. Backing up... lol Monday evening I learned I've been approved for insurance. It's AHCCCS. Took me a while to get that approved and I may well be off again in a few months. I'm at a place where I'm ready to get this done with, and called first thing yesterday morning (for several things lol), and have not had the best of luck. Took me down a bit, in fact.

It's hard not having my Mother here, so I can chat with her about doc's she knows of. They've hit places where there's just no phone service. Yesterday I got her for a couple minutes only, and told her where I stood on stuff related to eval for MS. But that's as far as I got. lol

Ah, the Neuro I called that she used to see... He used to be with Barrows and I've learned he's not any longer. Good!

Anyway... thank you for the name. :o) I wouldn't be crazy about frequent appointments... is this a regular thing, or just to get started? lol I'm up in the White Mountains. I expect I'll be doing some driving. Even for the MRIs and such. I won't do those up here. LOL Again, experience of others. Like Mom's last set of MRIs... done wrong the first time, called back, and the Radiologist's report said "no MS". Such a fast cure! ROFL I'm used to driving for docs though. LOL

To be sure I have it correct... It's Jatin Shah?

I have a list of MS docs I printed from one of the websites. I recognize three names only. One, I won't see. Two, I can't see. A couple are too far and I still know nothing of them anyway. LOL

It's taken me a long time to get where I am in admitting something needs done. I don't have the time to waste on docs who aren't going to be worth seeing (because I could be out of insurance lol). And I don't think I could take being told some of the things you all have heard. I might hurt a doctor. rofl I want to be the exception... I'll walk in, they say "yes, I can see you have ____" and all will be wonderful. Okay, "wonderful" may not be the right word. lol

Thanks,

Challis

Challis,I highly reccomend that you DO NOT go to Barrows...you mother would agree to that..lol. I recc. Dr. Shah (Jatin) Anothere member on here sees him, I can't rem. who though. He really is nice and he listens to me. He is the one who wants to see me every 6 weeks, and granted, he does order a lot of tests, but that's ok. At least I know he is trying to figure things out. He has 2 offices, one in Sun City and one in Glendale, he can also get you in pretty fast also. I don't know if that is close to you or not. Let me know who you find though. Take Care.LeAnn > Okay... anyone know of good Neuros in Arizona?> > Any comments on docs? Good and bad, very appreciated (comments, not doctors > lol).> > Thanks,> Challis
