Guest guest
Hi Debbie, You just said what I have been thinking. People who did the right thing and were responsible are now forced to ask for help. We paid our bills and paid our mortgage on time. We didn't buy the biggest house we could find, but the one we could afford. We saved and invested our money--money that was supposed to take care of us in our " golden years " --and would have if the banking system had not forced the market to tank due to their unsound practices. People who want to work and always have are a glut on the market today. Both Hubby and I were Federal workers for 10 yrs. and took out our pensions to live on when we left our jobs, me because of EN and him to become self-employed. Isn't it everyone's dream to be their own boss? Steve feels remorse and regret--not good emotions to have. We never took a dime from the govt. welfare programs. Worked as long as I could with EN dogging me nearly the whole time. And now at the tender age of 62 I have to pray some employer will take pity on me and give me some kind of minimum wage job because let's face it--there is no demand for old poets with a college degree they got before the boss was born. My heart is breaking for my husband. He did the right thing, and turns out it wasn't the wise thing. Who would have guessed? Who could have known? And the strangest thing is that since our finances went to Hell my EN went into remission. Thank Goodness for that! Love, http://poems2order.wordpress.com/ > > > > Jeff, > > That really sucks! We had a few people where I worked, who had several jobs. So, they had to quit one of them before ours ended, or worked around it somehow. I have not heard from them, so do not know how it went. But they went from earning from 2 jobs down to less then 1/2 of one. Well, I guess the same happened with us, I make less then 1/2 of what I made in 1 week working in 2 weeks of Unemployment. Same with my hubby. > > What the heck is wrong with this picture? I have my own ideas, but got to keep that to myself. > > I am sure they can not make you pay it back all at once. And, if you were getting the max from unemployment, they make up the difference when you work a part time job. Check out all of your options. > > Special ed is a good thing to get into. There are not as many jobs, but...once you get established, you should be gold. > > Good luck, > > Debbie en 5-7 >
