Guest guest
My first post here but I've been lurking and studying a few weeks... I'm having doctors tell me I probably have fibromyalgia but I'm not sure because my pain doesn't fit in with what I am hearing. There is a TV commercial that mentions some women that want to be hugged but it would hurt. My pain isn't like that. I'm getting sharp pains just about anywhere in my body that last a second or three then ease up. Sometimes it's repeated a few times, sometimes not. It feels more like it's coming from my bones and not muscles. I even get them in my head. The most common place I get the pains is in the thighs. Can anyone relate to this? Am I having fibro pains or is it something else? Cyndi

Sometimes, I get burning pain as if I had been badly sunburned or leaned against a hot stove. Sometimes it is a stabbing pain, as if I was being poked with a large needle. That can come up at any time, anywhere in my body. I sometimes wake up with a jerk in the middle of the night with a stinging pain in my foot, or hand or leg or just about anywhere. I have stood up to make sure that there was not a spider in my bed. And other times it is a crushing pain, as if my upper arm or my upper back muscles were in a huge vise. Then the bones even hurt. Once in a while I will get a twisting pain as if the muscles in my arm or leg were being tightened and tightened to the point of tearing. In that one, the bones don't hurt. Wet heat helps most of the time. To add to the fun and games, I also have Osteoarthritis with the accompanying joint pains. They are all different. And then there is the fatigue from not enough exercise and no good sound sleep. For me, staying completely away from wheat, corn and sugar really helps. Do I always eat 100% correctly? Nope. But I have learned to splurge on only one thing at a time and only eat a little. Pam In ID O+ S Gatherer Non-Taster
Guest guest
Pam I completely understand about the burning pain. The palms of my hands and bottoms of feet burn off and on all day and night and get worse as the day goes on. I have other parts that suddenly start burning and it does feel like I just leaned up against the stove or something. Funny about the spider I thought that before and have tried to get out of bed fast, get tangled in blankets and rolled down to floor, had to laugh at myself on that one. If you find anything that helps let me know. I have several ice packs in the freezer and when the burning pain in hands are too much I hold them between my hands, sometimes put on feet and other parts of body burning, gives relieve for at least a little while. Good Luck to you and the whole group. Tree from FL. ________________________________ To: fibromyalgiacured Sent: Thu, December 10, 2009 7:14:53 PM Subject: Re: What does the pain feel like? Guest guest
Hi I can relate to what you are saying. I have had many of those types of pains too. I am also type o and a gatherer. I used to have diabetes type 11 and I no longer no. the way it wa explained to me is that those weird pains are nerve pains. Nerve pains can hit anywhere any time and are not necessarily indicative of another problem also, there is something called pain referral. So if you have a gas bubble in your colon you may get a pain in your rib cage or shoulder. If your gall bladder has a spasm it may hurt all over your right side etc. With digestive problems you can get some real weird pains all over your body. Its the pain referral. Plus, some gas bubbles feel like they are the size of a football and that presses on your organs sometimes too. Most fibro¹s have serious digestive disturances. This is sometimes thought to be the basic cause of fibro due to deficiencies in in our nutrition due to incomplete digestion. Guest guest
One solution I have found for the burning pain is alkalizing my diet tremendously for a short time. For example only eat vegetables and juice them or make soup or mash them. No meat, sugar, dairy for a while. See if the burning stops. Then introduce only dairy and see if the burning starts up again. If not, dairy is ok. Then do the meat, then do the sugar etc. see if that helps you. It sure did help me. I could barely walk somedays my feet burned so bad and after one month of that food process I was cured. It never came back. Its kind of like gout. But its not gout. It hurts like gout sort of though. and gout is caused by a diet that too rich in sugar and meat and wine. > > > > > > Pam I completely understand about the burning pain. Guest guest
Yes I call that fibro pain. I used to have those in my thighs as well. It is nerve pain and pain referral as I explained in an earlier email. > > > > > > My first post here but I've been lurking and studying a few weeks... > > I'm having doctors tell me I probably have fibromyalgia but I'm not sure > because my pain doesn't fit in with what I am hearing.
