Guest guest
Hello, A 5 yr old Px of mine is suffering from glue ear. The problem began in infancy. Her recent auditory exam indicated 30% low frequency / 25% high frequency hearing loss in the right ear and 30% low freq. / 20% high freq. loss in her left hear. The GP has recommended grommets but the mother is resistant and is trying the herbal approach along w/Cranial Osteopathy. The child has laboured nasal breathing, her speech is poorly enunciated and her speech volume is quite high. The cervical nodes are slightly raised unilaterally as are the tonsils. She has a history since infant hood of constipation which continues to persist. Lately, the mother has noticed a yellow-powder-y vaginal discharge but there is no vaginal irritation reported by the child and no noticeable inflammation. The discharge was cultured and came back negative; uninalysis also negative. I have been treating her for 4 weeks. She has removed dairy from the diet and has cut down on wheat products considerably, increased water intake, decreased fruit juice, increased fibrous fruit intake and veg intake and eliminated bananas (previously consumed loads). Treatment wise, I had given her a two week daily course of ear drops: Calendula IO, Myrhh, Aneome pulsatilla, Lavendula, Eucalyptus & Hydrasits-2 gtt b.i.d. and an internal mix of Echinacea, Sambucus fruct., Euphrasia, Agrimony, Plantago, Galium, Solidago & Hydrastis in a Althea Syrup - 2.5 ml b.i.d. The shift in her hearing quality and nasal congestion has been minimal. Could anyone suggest some ideas? I don't know if I'm on the right track and should just keep plugging away or should I change tactic. If the latter, please share your experiences.
