Guest guest
Hi everyone I have a 36 year old female patient who has been using dianette for the past 6 years after a bad outbreak of acne and seborrhoeic dermatitis. The dianette became less effective, and for the last 18 months she has been supplementing it with additional cypreterone acetate. She has been told her hyperandrogenism is genetic and so not much can be done about it. Now she is losing hair (diagnosed as chronic telogen effluvium), has very oily skin and scalp. She's not menstruated for 5 years. She wants to stop taking the pills and is obviously concerned that acne will return, hair will all fall out etc. She has not got PCOS. Any ideas anyone? In my first mix I used paeonia, glycyrrhiza, and nettle root, alongside some gentle bitters. I would like to know what emmenagogues might be most appropriate, and how to advise her on withdrawing from the pills. Cheers Max
