Guest guest
Cydne, Yes, yes, and yes. And, a few times Patty has picked her fingers and had gotten infections in them. The tips swelled up like little balls and she had to soak them in peroxide and then put antibiotics on the sores. One time they were so bad the doctor almost had to lance them to let the pressure out. Now that she washes her hands more often, and there is this antibacterial hand spray things are not bad. She has said she absolutely hates when her fingernails feel funny so she peals them. About her not staying still. Is this a CHARGE thing? Are they also hyperactive? Even while having conversations with just the two of us standing in the kitchen she moves around. Could drive you silly sometimes. But I think she just NEEDs to move. Mark (16) is currently on antibiotics due to infection around both big toenails. They looked horrible and were so soar he couldn't get his shoes on hardly. I have no answer as to why they do this. He also does this picking at his fingernails. YIKES!

Guest guest
Cydne, Yes on both the sore lips and picking of the finger tips. My son, , is 24. We have had this problem and I'm afraid to say still do. In the winter time 's lips will get so sore that they will bleed. We have done everything imaginable to help him stop the behavior but I have come to the conclusion that for It is something he will always have a problem with. He can get upset with me about keeping after him about it. I try to explain to him about making his lips and fingers sore, always making sure he has chap stick (though he has to be reminded to use it), we have tried all the suggestions, recommendations to no avail. As I type this now his lips look chapped and sore. You would think the pain would be enough to deter him but it appears that he can't process the reasoning and stop the behavior. Hopefully there will be some advice from the list that I have not heard about or tried. Let us both hope so. ;o) Vicki mom to (24) Cydne Park wrote: > Has anyone had any difficulty > with chronic lip sucking so that the mouth is constanly chapped and > sore? I think Zachary forgets he's outside, licks his lips and they get chapped. I put Vaseline on them each night while he sleeps. I know you've probably already tried this w/ . My problem is that once my lips get chapped they get dry and HURT. I lick my lips to make them feel better, then they only get worse in a couple of minutes. Just like , I couldn't stop doing this even though I knew the consequences. At first I put Vaseline on, but it only made the problem worse--it trapped the oral bacteria on my lips. After months of trying home remedies, I went to the Dr. Turns out I licked my lips so bad they were infected. He put me on oral antibiotics and a strong Rx ointment. Could this be the problem behind 's licking? Mine were so red and chapped it looked like I was wearing lipstick. Without a Dr looking at my lips, it easily could have been mistaken for simply being very chapped. In the past 2 years I've had to go on oral antibiotics twice for this so at the first sign of chapping, I put the antibiotic ointment on. You were looking for suggestions so I thought I'd throw in my own personal experience. See, even Charge Moms, can do unconscious bonehead things too! Guest guest
, Makes sense. I'll have the doctor check for infection. will less likely fight about something the doctor says to do then if it's just old Mom telling him. ;o) Thanks...................
