Hi Lianne,

Wow....you got that nasty nasty flu that wiped a whole bumch of people on

their butts...some for three weeks. Glad you are back and healthy again.

Did I hear you say...Chicago Marathon????

Well...it just so happens...I am training for that beginning June 6th, as

soon as I return from my trip to Europe. I leave this Thursday and will be gone

for 19 days. I am going to strive to walk 30 minutes every morning and make

healthy food choices, but I also know I will want to partake of local fare and

wines....soooo...if I come back without additional weight, I will consider

that a bonus. Also, if there are gyms in the hotels, I will take advantage and

do my weight workouts, but won't have an anerism if they don't. Jusy try to

maintain...that will be good.

Yesterday I bought the BFL for Women book. What motivated that purchase was

that I am 46 and experiencing a tough time with weight gain around the middle.

I am hoping I can get some guidance and inspiration to attack this problem

with a new vengence. It is written by a woman who did her first challenge at

47. It gives me new hope. :) I plan to work the BFL program in with the 18

week marathon training program. I am confident I can do that nicely.

So...hmmm...maybe we can work together somehow.

Kelley,

Yes, I definately got that one, and on my first full week in my dept,

too! 101+ degree fever on my crappy thermometer which is notorious

for reading a degree or so on the low end. It sucked, but I

survived.

Yeah, I said *gasp* Chicago marathon. I am leaning more towards

doing that than the second fitness comp. because I just detest that

part of MI. I won't switch to Marathon-mode until after the July

fitness comp, but I'll be really lean at that time (if all goes

according to plan, which it WILL dammit!!!) so switching modes

shouldn't be a big deal.

There is another book you may be interested in. My dad recently

bought a book that is something like " Cycling (or training for?) for

over 50 " . I am thinking of getting it (even though I am under 30)

because it sounded like good info regardless. I will have to get the

exact title for you.

I was unaware there was a BFL book for women... how excellent!!

Congrats on your success with another " official challenge " , pics

notwithstanding.

I'm not taking anything; just let my depo provera shot " wear off " so

to speak, so my body thought it was a combination of pregnant + going

through puberty all over again and it was NOT FUN.

I am so danged competitive is the thing with races... and having team

t-shirts totally fed that because I made it my goal to seek and pass

them...hehehe. " hello, Moto...goodbye... "

As far as pics, probably going to have wait a month or so til I have

some progress to see those posted. ;-)

Hi Lianne! Congratulations on your 5K + .4!!!! Nice time too! You already

know I am hooked so I can fully understand how it happened to you.

Are you doing a challenge currently? Where are you in it?

I start a challenge tomorrow along with starting an 18 week training program

for my first marathon. Join in with me if you are ready to start a new one.

More is a party!

I am doing a self made plan due to the fact that I am just returning from

rehabbing a stress fracture and am starting very cautiously basically from

scratch. I will be doing a walk/run plan so I can continu to rehab the leg and

build my stamina back up without over stressing the newly healed tibia. I am

also

working with a runner from that list I mentioned who is very experienced,

knowledgeable and practical in his training so I know I won't be pushing myself

I'm sure you already know about the various websites you can get a good

training program from. If not, let me know and I can direct you to a couple.

Looking forward to tomorrow!!!

I will be running Chicago on Sunday Oct 9th !!! It is a flat course

with lots of great crowd support. I belong to a running list on

yahoo called LetsChatAboutRunning which provides great training

incentive and support. At least 15 people from that list will be

running Chicago, and two or three of us will be first timers.

It is a good one to do for the fall.
