Ava, thanks for all the practical advice. I think getting the cookbook will

really help and the information about moods is new to me. I will watch it

carefully. I wish the snow would leave, it has made exercising difficult.

Thanks for your encouragement.

What Bars>>

Have you tried the Carbo-Lite Candy Bars? They have no sugar, less than

..045 carbs low in fat and mind ya there isn't any protein in it either but

I'm telling you I think they rank right up there w/ the Dove candy bars. at

least the next best thing. mmmmmmmmm I love the choc. peanut butter ones.

:)

KAREN--Have y'all gotten 's cookbook? If not, give her a

holler... VBowen1067@.... I know she's got another link to it...

Also, how's your mood doing? Carbohydrates and sweets release

serotonin in our brain. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that allows

us to send messages between brain cells. The speed and facility with

which this is done is one of the things that affects our mood. If you

have a tendency to be depressed--which you may not be aware of (and

which may have changed since your surgery)--your body may be trying

to get more serotonin by making you 'hungry' for carbs and sweets.

You can counteract this by getting good brain chemicals going another

way--through exercise and new experiences, making sure your body has

adequate protein (so it has no excuse for being 'hungry'), and

keeping track of your mood to make sure a dip in your brain chemicals

isn't happening.

Get Vic's cookbook too; lot's of good, sugar-free stuff there too!

KAREN--Sure thing, hon. You need anything else, please let me know! I

remember reaching a point, too, where my hunger for carbs, my

grazing, got to be more than I thought it should be... (It DID pass,

though!) It's something we usually have to work at some, so don't

feel bad.
