Guest guest
Hi to everyone who is new here. My name is , the founder/volunteer director of Greater Chattanooga Aspies. The mission statement of GCA is to " provide support opportunities to young adults and adults (16+) in the greater Chattanooga, TN area). " I became part of aspires, a few months after being diagnosed officially with AS in September 2007. After the " black hole " time in my life from 2007-2009, I emerged like the phoenix out of nowhere. I created GCA in late 2010 due to lack of resources (make that no resources) for adults with AS/autism in the Chattanooga area. Long story short, I have put together the GCA Resource Clearinghouse - which has much that is local to the Chattanooga area. However, there are links on there which people can click on and all. What I wish to highlight is the " Just Diagnosed? Start Here " link. Many people who come to aspires and have emailed me locally have mentioned, " I was just diagnosed with AS. What do I do now? " I encourage people to click on the following link http://greaterchattanoogaaspies.wikispaces.com/Just+diagnosed%3F+Start+here. There, people will find a multitude of links to get them going in the right direction. I've also posted the link in the Links section here. I hope new folks will find what they need here.
