Guest guest
I have a 1 year old Yorkie MN, 6.5 pounds. The owners acquired him when he was 5 months. He was limping at the time they got him. Radiographs taken here reveal a separation of a portion of the femoral head at fovea capitus. Our surgeons performed an FHO on 9/23/2010. At 4 weeks out he rechecked here and was continuing to hold this leg up. He was referred to rehab on 10/25/2010. Upon my exam he was intermittent weight bearing on his right rear. This because worse at a pace or trot. Circumference of his limbs reviled a half inch difference in muscle mass. His hip flexion was 42 and his extension was 142 on the affected leg. His hip palates with no pain. I think that his condition is behavioral. He refuses to walk up hills and would rather fall then put weight on this leg. He will use it intermittent in the UWTM. The owners have been using Velcro to attach quarters to his leg and this seems to work most of the time. They are also dancing him at home with little success. Are there any other exercises that we can be doing with him? Or any other suggestions?
