I thought some humor might be in order (or yes I've had my uppers pulled and

bone clipped for fitting choppers. Full mouth periodontal surgery is much

worse!!).

Please read the ad that has been inserted right below your note.

How appropriate. ;))

Thank you for asking a question.

List members please answer:

For me I had to have all my teeth pulled out. Since I have an

artificial heart valve I was not allowed to have anything but plain old

novacaine. It was gruesome listening to them break each tooth off and

pull it.

I hope others have better prognosis.

Leona & Arne......Interesting topic isn't it? Really...a few years before

s dx he started having " problems " with his teeth such as " brittle " , etc.

and several crowns before dx. He has been a fanatic about his teeth since

his teen years. Hum.....now you have me thinking. I am now even more

curious about how the psc medications effect the teeth, re: actigal, urso,

questran, cipro, etc.. I recall reading in the questran insert about the

effects on the teeth. I will have to grab the next insert and write a report

to the group! Or....maybe Aubrey could enlighten us on this topic(:)!

Oh...or Tim:) Sincerely, wife of dx 97

Hi,

You know Phil has always had good visits with the dentist. He's always been very good with his teeth and never had any problems. No fillings, crowns or any extra cleaning done. You know that his last visit they found he needs some work done. We were both surprised. We didn't think much of it until now that it's been brought up. Interesting.

Also, Phil had his follow-up this morning with his PCP and the doctor was pleased to see his results. He did say that Phil gained 4 pounds since his last visit which was October 27. He's also sending him to a different GI because the one he has now changes staff too much and you could never get the results when you need them. Phil is happy about that because he's not happy with the way this office is run and the doctor has you wait for 2 hours before seeing him and then you get 5 minutes of his time and leave there not knowing much from when you first got there. So hopefully this one will work out. I'll keep you posted.

DOes anyyone know anything about meds affecting your teeth? Because in

the past few months my teeth have deteriorated greatly and I don't

know why I have so many cavities and chips in my teeth

Unfortunately, these drugs do affect our teeth, sometimes because it upsets the ph balance in your mouth, or diminishes saliva. Most people who take psych meds for a long time have lots of dental problems.

Hi Wolfie,

These drugs do cause problems with teeth.I managed to snap one of mine from the bone.If you are having trouble with grinding them in your sleep maybe you should go and get a gaurd for them.

sometimes we can detox through the teeth, and cause them to be unsightly for a

while, but gets better. Google oil pulling coconut oil. It is great to improve

the teeth, gums, and perhaps health in general. It is more natural than certain

products from the dentist.
