Guest guest
Welcome , Sounds like you have had a rough 25 years or so. I hope the test will at least give you an answer and some help. Yes there are other single partents in this group. Myself I was dxed just before I turned 50 and my children were all grown. Good luck with all the tests. Again Welcome to the neighborhood and it will be nice getting to know you. LOVE AND HAPPINESS; FLOWERS AND BUTTERFLIESLYNN Newbie...possible/probable MS Hi everyone,Just joined the list. I am , 45 year old single mom of 2 girls, ages 12 and 6.I am in the process of seeking a diagnosis (again). I have had this at least since 1995 and probably since around 1980. Last time I got a diagnosis of "might have MS, but we are going to say it is mono for now and wait and see". This was in 1996. I had transverse myelitis, high EBV titers, vertigo, vision problems, parasthesias, leg weakness, used a cane to walk. It was very awful.Gradually it went away. Strange symptoms would come and go, and I tired easily. I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I found out transverse myelitis is not really part of CFS. And I did not have the same symptoms as the people I met who had CFS. So I always questioned that. Of course everyone thinks that is psychological too. So when you go to the doctor and say I have CFS, they go uh-huh. It becomes difficult to get anyone to take you seriously and you begin to doubt yourself. That is why it has taken me soooo long to go back to the doctor. I would just ignore my strange symptoms and go to the walk-in urgent care place if I needed some antibiotics for bronchitis or strep throat or something. I haven't had a real doctor for 5 or 6 years. But last month I had a wave of fatigue come over me and I was just wiped out for about a month. Then one day I sat in the car while my daughter played soccer. The sun was beating down on the car. By the time I got home I was flattened. Took a nap and when I got up I was limping. Then things went downhill from there. So I called the MS clinic and saw the doctor this week.I go for all the tests next week, and I will be really surprised if we don't find something this time. I have never had an MRI or anything. A couple of eegs and a CT scan in 1981. That's it. Babinski's sign in 1995.If we don't find anything this time around I am going to go into treatment for conversion disorder or something. If this is psychological then I will do whatever it takes to make it go away. I went to a psychiatrist about 6 years ago and he said it was physical, so he couldn't help me. So what can you do? The body docs say it is psychological, and the head docs say it is physical. So that's my story in a very long nutshell (no pun intended). Are there any other single parents on this list? That is the scariest thing to me about this, whether it is MS or whatever it is. I am afraid of not being able to properly care for my children.Looking forward to getting to know you all! in KY
Guest guest
Hi , I'm Patti. I'm a single mom too. My son is 16. Guest guest
Hi , ) I'm Challis, exploring MS as a possible dx for myself. I've not begun see a doctor or any testing, but hopefully will do that soon enough. I can imagine your concerns regarding your children and I hope you never have to face that. I hope your tests give you clear answers. Hugs, Challis Hi everyone,Just joined the list. I am , 45 year old single mom of 2 girls, ages 12 and 6.I am in the process of seeking a diagnosis (again). Guest guest
Aprentiship sounds wonderful! ;-) LOL! My son in nearly 5' 11" and weighs over 200 pounds! The kid can eat! Good thing he can work a microwave! Patti Yeah, that too! I have been disabled since 1996. Teenagers are SO expensive! Yikes! I don't know how I am ever going to afford my 12 year old. I now understand why in agrarian societies children this age are sent out to apprentiships. Lots of good reasons for that! lol I love my daughter and couldn't do without her. I am just joking around. She's a dear....an expensive dear...but still very dear. :-) > >Hi , >I'm Patti. I'm a single mom too. My son is 16.
