Hi all,

wondered if anyone can help with a patient that i'm seeing who is

experiencing extreme pain and stiffness in joints and tissue which

started around Christmas and has been getting progressively worse. The

worst pain is in her shoulders and knees although she also has pain

around the groin area and her thoracic vertebrae.

She is 61 and managing the pain by neurofen twice a day. The doc has

done numerous tests and all bar one have come back clear. The one that

is not clear is an ANA titre (antinuclear antibody), which indicates

connective tissue disorders - sjogrens/scleroderma/lupus or myositis.

Her problems started in December after a trip to New Zealand (long haul

flight and then had a heavy cold when she arrived there).

At the moment, she is taking (in addition to the neurofen) Turmeric,

willow, floressence, nettle juice, ginger and bromelain, udo's oil,

gillian mckeith's living energy powder and molasses.

Other medical conditions are hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia

which doesn't seem to affect her accept for a few blood spots on her

lips and varicose veins.

Her diet is not fantastic (looking after too many other people and not

herself enough). No digestive problems of any sort though and regular

bowel movements.

I've suggested a small cleanse followed by an attempt to alkalise her

system, but am not entirely sure where to go next with the whole

autoimmune thing! I would like her to have an impact on her pain levels

but also want to deal with the underlying. There does not, however ,

seem to be any overt digestive stuff going on...

What would anyone else do?!

Thanks!

Schia
