Guest guest
Hi Kathy- Thank you for the compliment. I do feel blessed to have my brother in my life. Our families may get together Thursday evening...I always look forward to that. He is so quick witted, fun to be around, and so very kind. Doesn't wear his feelings on his sleeve but I do know they are tucked inside. Smiling here in Des Moines- Sandie -- " Kathy " wrote: Oh Sandy - what a wonderful brother. Even if he could not say it - you have the most treasured gift. Give that man a hug - from me. Kathy > > I have only one sibling, a brother almost 3 years older than I am. I was POA for both medical and financial decisions for our dad. My brother went most of the time for the important meetings and/or hospital admissions, but not all. I realized my brother wasn't at the same place as I was. He told me on numerous occasions that he didn't go through life not thinking of how he wasn't involved. It wasn't for me to judge though. I was caregiver for our dad and that was all I needed. I turned to my brother from time to time when I needed a shoulder, sometimes he understood, sometimes he didn't. That was ok for me. My brother gave me the most beautiful Thank You card and told me to open it sometime later. My brother wrote... " This will be one of those notes that is hard to write but needs to be written as I'm sure I couldn't fit this into verbal words. Just wanted to express my deepest thanks for the way you handled dad's situation. You treated him with dignity, grace, and compassion every step of the way. Where I couldn't seem to be you stepped in and took charge. You went way beyond the call of duty and he was better off for it. From pre-arranging the funeral, selling his belongings, his financial situation, placement in care centers, to the last days you got to be with him. I was, and know he was, very proud to have you. Thanks beyond words...Love Steve " > Always proud to tell everyone that this is my brother- > Sandie > Des Moines, IA > dad, Merle, passed from LBD 9-20-02, age 65 > > > > >
