that's helpful thanks lynda

Re: Using Facebook or Twitter for promotion

I do but it's not without it's problems and I had huge issues with it at

first. I settled on using it to remind my friends and acquaintances what I do

for a living and that's been successful!!! Also i now only befriend people i

know or those suggested to me personally by patients/friends. You can (in my

opinion) take it too far as I also know many people who find business profiles

intrusive as people use them in different ways. For instance some have personal

photos and info snd see any business stuff as canvassing. But then , people have

to agree to be yr 'friend' and can always opt out. I have a private page then a

separate one for more herby stuff.

I don't use twitter as much as I should but use Facebook regularly and its

definitely a great way of maintaining regular contact with people you might not

otherwise have the time to .

Hope that helps :-)

I agree about Linked-In -- I get roughly three to four spam emails a

day from random people saying i've been invited and its become a bit of

a nuisance so i'm blocking them. I don't think this is the best way to

advertise. I'm in the process of setting up a facebook page for my

practice. This is much less invasive and you have more control over it

and people will only " become friends " if they are interested in you.

They always have the choice to block you if they don't want the

information. Its a great way to keep in touch.

thanks but I'm not sure abotu Linked-In I get spam emails from them

from people and I just ignore them

Re: Using Facebook or Twitter for promotion

Hi

I've heard from an teacher that Linked-In is the best medium

for professional networking and he regularly gets patients ('students'

in AT) this way, and it's on my list to join it.

A Usana (US-based high quality nutritional supplements) supplier I know

(who also has other businesses not related to health) does Facebook,

which is apparently excellent for marketing events.

I have been on LinkedIn for about a year now and had no referrals through it

all. I did not let it crawl my email address list, nor do I let Facebook or

anything else trawl it as they can all generate spam and I feel sure that is

probably the fastest way to lose existing patients!

I use both facebook and linked-in mainly to promote herb walks and talks

etc. I have found it helps to a certain degree and imo at the moment any

free promotion is worth doing!

I think you just have to make sure you don't upload any pictures you are

concerned about and be careful how you label them, because these become

searchable terms on via a search engine.

I have managed to close down a facebook account quite easily. You just have to

notify them, then not use the account for two weeks.

I'm in the process of setting up a page for the clinic as I am subscribed to a

small handful of businesses and seen how they use is as a successful marketing

tool. It's a great way for people to be aware of events you are holding,

especially if they haven't been into the clinic for six months.
