Guest guest
When I had major gall bladder pain...I would do them every night. I don't think there is any harm in doing it 1 x per day, but I'm not a doctor so you may want to check me on that one. Hello,I have found out about these in the files, and have started. Can anyone tell me how often it is recommended for an 11 year old?Is there any danger in doing this too often? Thanks,

Guest guest
They are also good to use for kids who have immune problems or trouble having a daily BM. Very helpful. Guest guest
I have used caster oil packs with several patients (endometriosis and cancer) and they have found it very beneficial. It has considerably reduced pain, and they have found it deeply relaxing. In one case, the patient has advanced metastatic cancer, with considerable pain. She used a caster oil pack once every few days over a couple of months, increasing the duration of the application, from one hour, in the beginning to overnight. She has only stopped using it because of the mess, inconvenience and difficulty in applying the dressing herself. This particular patient is getting on remarkably well, several of her tumours have shrunk. However, I can't say how much that is related to the caster oil as she has made major changes to her diet and lifestyle, and, of course, she is taking herbs. This is some information which I downloaded from the web: Caster Oil Pack The 'Castor oil hot pack' is considered to be by a long way the most valuable of all herbal compresses. Castor oil, which is derived from the Castor bean, is so similar to the natural oils in the human body that it is easily received by human tissues and it is able to assist in their rejuvenation. It is used to relieve deep pain, stemming from such things as congested lymph nodes, internal scar tissue and period pains. It is particularly useful for detoxification of tissues including the liver. It is also useful for reduction of unwanted growths of all kinds. It achieves this by stimulating the body's deep circulation, including the lymphatic circulation, and promoting general detoxification. Although it can take a while to produce noticeable results, it causes immediate, acute experiences of deep relaxation. This is how you administer it:- Cut several pieces of laundered white cotton flannel/ sheeting etc, large enough to completely cover the area and beyond, to be treated. 1. place cotton pieces in a (non-aluminium or iron) dish. 2. Pour over enough castor oil to soak the fabric. 3. Put dish in oven and heat gently until material is hot, but still possible to handle. 4. wash the area to be treated with warm water and apple cider vinegar (then dry it) 5. Gently wring oil soaked fabric to stop it dripping, while still retaining plenty of oil. 6. Place all cloths over area to be treated 7. Cover with plastic (cling film is ok) 8. Place hot water bottle over this 9. Wrap a large towel or similar around yourself to hold it in place 10. Relax for at least an hour, keeping warm (under a blanket or similar) 11. Afterwards, clean the skin with gentle soap, then a wash with warm water and a little baking soda (this will relieve any minor skin irritation caused by the drawing action of the Caster oil). 12. Wrap the oiled material in a plastic bag and store in the fridge. It can be reheated and reused up to about 6 times before using fresh cloths. (but only by the same person) 13. It is often necessary to repeat this a number of times. Eg, once a day, three days in a row, then four days off. Repeating this pattern over several weeks. Guest guest
I have no idea exactly how they work, but in my experience with castor oil packs on my own liver anyway, they definitely had a distinct detoxing effect. I'm presuming this happens due to increased blood flow through the area? My experience, for what it's worth - I had constant night sweats after my periods came back following my second daughter's birth. These lasted five months, pretty much every night. I tried lots of things. In the end, read a bit about castor oil packs over the liver and decided to try it. It was recommended by Barbara Wren (College of Natural Nutrition in Devon) to do 3 packs per week for three weeks of the month, avoiding the menstrual week. the first night I did a pack I was incredibly angry at everyone (!) but had my first sweat-free night in five months. Sweated the following night. Did another pack the day after - again no sweat. Another day off and sweated again. After the third castor oil pack that week, they didn't come back for two weeks. The sweats have basically been gone since then with an occassional very mild feeling of warmth at night but nothing like what they were... I have to say, it convinced me!!
