Guest guest
Hi Listmates, This is an update I just sent in to the LDN list so sorry if you are seeing this for the second or third time. Just wanted to post a quick update I will enter it in the files after this. We are on our fourth week at full dose of LDN. We have not chelated in a couple of months due to low wbc we are waiting on new test results to see where we stand now. All supplements except for new antibiotics and adding in Mb12 as a nasal spray instead of the shots are the same. Reason for antibiotics is below. Three weeks after reaching full dose we went to visit Dr. in CT for a Lyme consultation. One of the tests they ran was for strep. I had noted that had huge lymph node swelling in his neck, both sides. He's had this for a while but, I was told by our regular pedi that it was due to drainage from his nose because of a cold or other virus. We've had rapid strep tests run in the past month and they were negative. In the past month we saw a horrible cough, runny nose and the swollen glands. He's been tired and falling asleep during the afternoon wherever he would lay down. The floor of the playroom, the ottoman in the middle of the living room etc. Not something he is prone to do. He has looked more lone tone and we've seen a decrease in attention and definite fatigue in therapy sessions. The strep test Dr. ran came back positive for strep so that is being treated with Omnicef, 1 tsp once a day for 10 days. was also started on 1/2 tsp Zithromax daily for the Lyme. Since treating the strep we've seen energy returning and a little yeasty behaviors. In addition to the yeasty behaviors (rubbing his penis, wetting the bed again at night, night waking, increased hearing sensitivities waking when the fire sirens go off locally and crying) He has also been complaining of aches and pains in his back and knees. Dr believes we are seeing a herx die off reaction. Which according to the nurse in his office is a " good thing " I have doubled probiotics and increased our natural antifungals. I did get an rx for diflucan faxed to me by Dr. 's office on Monday to help with that, but, plan on running an OAT and CSA to see what I'm dealing with first. I have a DAN! appointment this afternoon and will discuss with him too. Now all the symptoms, except the body aches, were prior to starting the antibiotics so I think we had mobilized more viral issues for . He's continuing to show improvements with interaction with us and his language is continuing to improve. Eye contact is still coming along nicely too. We just signed him up for pre-school and he is starting tomorrow. It is a communication class in our local school district. He will be the 8th student in the room. Two of the children are NT and the others have some kind of language support needed i.e. articulation issues. I did not observe any behavior problems with any of the kids in the room and my child is the only one with an asd diagnosis. We visited last week for the morning and went right in and sat down with the kids and participated in circle time. He also lined up and went to the bathroom with them without me. He just asked the teacher to flush for him as he didn't like the sound and wanted to leave the bathroom. Prior to this he would have refused to even go in the bathroom and would have broken down in tears because of the sound. The fact that he is articulating that he doesn't like it is great! When asked if he would like to participate in one of the other activities in the classroom at one point he looked right at the teacher and said " no thank you " . He is starting mornings, 4 days a week tomorrow. This is the same school we had in last year, (different classroom and teacher) and had to withdraw him due to problems with him tolerating the sounds, lights etc. He had to have a full time aide last year to even keep him in the classroom as he would bolt out of the room and run down the halls. At school he would not even put more than two words together last march and would lay on the floor rolling the trucks in front of his face and ignore everyone when they tried to interact with him. They were all amazed when they saw him on Wed. last week when he looked at them and was answering questions in sentences. He also asked to go to the bathroom and whether it was an automatic flush potty (one of his big fears). They are assigning an extra adult to the room for , but, not at my request, I think he's going to do fine, but, because of the way he was last year LOL. I told them I'm sure they'll be able to wean her away quickly and have asked them not to tell she is there " for him " . I think he would be insulted LOL. My main reason for doing this for him again is that he needs the social interaction with kids now. I have actually been homeschooling him with a full kindergarten curriculum and he's been doing well with it. But, that doesn't give him enough interaction with the kids that he needs now to developed social skills. He is still going to a regular karate program two nights a week and last week tested for his first belt . He lead the group doing the star block routine which is at least 7 steps that you have to verbalize and move your hands at the same time. He called out all the steps and did the movements at the same time as he lead his group. None of the kids in that class know he has autism. They are all NT peers. Defeat Autism Now!
