Guest guest
I asked my daughter's LLMD about mangosteen and his answer was that it wouldn't hurt, however it was quite pricey and he hasn't seen improvements with patients using it, so he didn't recommend it. Guest guest
Hi Lu, On our original Lyme and Rife group owned by Rosner, the Lyme author, there were quite a few who use Mangosteen... is an advocate of using Mangosteen, here is a link to what he has to say: http://lymebook.com/blog/supplements/mangosteen-xango-powder-or-juice-pericarp/ Please notice in his link the recommendations he makes, not all Mangosteen is the same.... Take care, Jim http://www.farocompany.com/mangosteen-capsule-pills.html > > Hi Folks > Is there anyone who has used magosteen? How much have you used and was it helpful? Guest guest
Hi , Check out this link about Mangosteen by Rosner... He doesn't recommend this product as it is not 100% Mangosteen... You might want to take a look at the other brands he feels are much better... http://lymebook.com/blog/supplements/mangosteen-xango-powder-or-juice-pericarp/ <<<<<<<In my book The Top 10 Lyme Disease Treatments, http://www.defeatlyme.com, I talk about Mangosteen as being one of the best supplements for Lyme disease for many reasons, including its powerful antibiotic charcteristics. However, I mention a product in the book, Xango, which I no longer believe is the best route to take. Here's why. Xango has some mangosteen in it but also many other ingredients. Lots of fruit juices which have unnecessary sugar. So, I found a better brand, 100% pure mangosteen juice with NO additives - http://www.mangosteens.com. A great product, and can create a massive herx reaction.>>>>>>Take care,Jim >> I used xzango for a while. Guest guest
Jim, I tried Xango for months with no results. Then I found 100 mangosteen juice online and used it for a few more months with no results. I bought canned mangosteen at a local asian market. Nothing, I then found freeze dried mangosteen at trader joe's and bought them out. Nothing. I pursued it because of Rosner's book and I do think its a great book although I don't agree with everything he says. I'm sure his 10 ten treatment list has probably changed since that book as well. Guest guest
Hi Tamara, At this link, talks about not using Xango, this is a change since his book... He now feels some powder forms of Mangosteen are better if they are produced properly... Here is his blog, it is current and what he is currently suggesting: http://lymebook.com/blog/supplements/mangosteen-xango-powder-or-juice-pericarp/ <<<<<<<<<However, for those who want the concentrated form, the powder from mangosteen pericarp (the pericarp is the outer rind, or shell, of the fruit, and has all the nutrients, and must be consumed in powder form since it is chewy and hard and can't be eaten alone) to avoid the sugar content, I wrote the following post on the Lyme and rife group wth some additional information. Personally, I would prefer the powder no matter how bad it tastes, since I don't like all the sugar in the juices. So far I've located a few sources of the powder: http://www.physicianformulas.com/store/scripts/prodview.asp?idproduct=219 & name=M\ angosteen http://farocompany.com/ http://www.amermed.com/mangosteen.htm http://www.vitalxan.com.au/ I had a long talk on the phone last night with the owner of the VitalXan company in Australia, and I think his product looks pretty good.>>>>>>>>> 's info is pretty reliable, but not everything works for everyone either... I do remember several months before he closed his group he was talking about using the powder form, some did and felt it was working. So it just may be the Xango and juice you used was not strong enough.. Take care, Jim > > > > > > I used xzango for a while. Guest guest
Hi Jim, I'm sure if I kept trying I may have found the mangosteen that worked and maybe it did something for me but at the time I was so sick I did not notice. All of the juices tell you if the use the whole pericarp or not and believe it or not some do. It makes for a terrible tasting powdery drink. I mixed it with sparkling water just to get it down. It is worth a shot to try if you have and extra $40.00/$50.00 a week but there are so many things out there that work better. I did however look into harvesting my own and in my area it would take years and years to grow the fruit. If I had your climate and garden I would grow my own. Guest guest
Hi Tamara, Yes, I here the taste of Mangosteen is very tough to take... I've not tried it... Well I have planted my own Mangosteen tree, it is about 4 ft tall now, this will be its third season, but I don't think it will bear fruit this year... I was surprised the freeze didn't get it all the way up here, but it came through the winter just fine... Buying the juice is really expensive, I think given a choice capsules or powder is the best way to go... For a while, many were buying Acai juice, very expensive... Then I posted we get the same benefits from high grade powder, at a much lower price... Everyone switched... The taste of the powder is terrible, but mixing it in with other supps and some grape juice does a good job of masking it... And I still use it... I don't think I would spend $40 - 50 per week on something either unless I got a big benefit from it... Jim > > > > > > > > > > I used xzango for a while. Guest guest
Hi Jim, I have to admit I'm a little bit envious of that mangosteen plant. Ok really really envious. I struggle to keep a couple of citrus trees alive by moving them into my bathroom in the winter. It almost feels like an act of cruelty to see them barely clinging on. Guest guest
Hi Tamara, You live in South FL, don't you? If so, your orange trees should do well in the ground... I am a lot colder in Jax, yet my Navel and Hamlin orange, Ponderosa and Meyers lemon trees do well outside... I even left a small amount of fruit on the trees to see if they would weather the freeze okay (13 days at or below 32), and they all did... Jim > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I used xzango for a while. Guest guest
Jim, I live in Connecticut. I only visit my mother in law in South Florida. I don't have a real yard either I have a patio on the second floor of an old industrial building. I bring everything inside for the winter because I don't thing the containers protect them. I put grow lights in my bathroom and there is no room left for my family. The plants have taken over. I never even touched dirt until 4 years ago and now I'm addicted. Guest guest
Well heck Tamara, All this time I was picturing your down there in South Florida!! Well even if you did have a yard in CT, I don't think any oranges or mangosteen trees would grow up there, way too cold.... I was born and in lived in CT for many years and it is waaaaaay to cold up there... Well if something has to take over your home, nothing better than plants... :-) So when are you moving to Florida! Just think of all the good fresh food you can grow down here! Your orange trees would grow into real trees! Take care, Jim :-) > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I used xzango for a while.
