Guest guest
Wow! I'm still pumped! Ever have one of those days where you're just tired? Everything is heavy? You don't feel like working out, especially don't feel like hitting those 10's? That was me today. As many of you know, I don't follow the BFL weight training part, I do my own thing and change things around. Anyway, today was to be my shoulder/tricep day, and like I said, had no energy/desire to go heavy or make the effort required to hit the 10's. So, knowing my long history of consistency, and 99% likelihood of future consistency, I decided to just take it easy with some light weights and light reps, get 'er done, and come back for a better workout another day. That was my thinking last night...and at 5:30am this morning, I felt the same way. I did a quick 2min warm up on the bike, then for some strange reason, headed for the dip rack. I never do dips first...they usually aren't any fun until after my shoulders are warmed up. So I started slow and easy, then did a few more, then a few more, then another 10 or so, then a few more, then some more and then just decided to stop before I burned out. (Remember how I said I wasn't in the mood for a lot of effort?) I wish I would have kept count, it had to be around 40. Then I headed for the barbell military press...did an easy set with 25's on the bar. Then with plates (135). Felt decent, so feeling loose and relaxed I did a double (2 reps) with 185, then put on 225. A buddy saw me and came over to spot. I got the first one and almost the 2nd one. Cool! Then I went to the squat rack and did 3 sets of push-presses (standing overhead press, but using the legs to get it started). I don't usually do standing overheads that way, so it was a little awkward, but still good. Watching the clock, I skipped the other shoulder exercises I like to do and went to triceps. I started with closegrip, and the usual 225. It felt really heavy...I only got 5 or 6 (I usually get 7-10). So what did I do? Put on 10's to make it 245 and had a buddy spot me. Crazy. I got 4-5. A few minutes later, I did a 3rd set and got 3 or 4. Then I went to skull-crushers, and this time actually did take it easy, with only plates and fives on the zigzag bar. I did two or three sets of 10. My triceps were fading fast, and so was my time. I finished with cable press downs and did two sets of 10 or so with 110 (10-20 less than usual). Triceps were so pumped by the 2nd set that I could hardly finish it. Here at work, 5 hours later, my arms/shoulders are still pumped! I have creatine (2g/day) and a crazy workout to thank, and it feels great! Ya just gotta love it when it turns out that way! Brett
