I am so glad to hear of your success and progress! The Live basic workout was

my first and still dear to my heart. It is no cinch! I think it is critical to

listen to your body. Pushing yourself too far can back fire increase risk of

injury. I have a variety of approaches, depending on how I am feeling that day.

Sometimes, I do the best form and vigor I can doing all repetitions until I

start to tire and lose form, then I stop. Other days, I want to complete as

much of the workout as possible, so I half time, walk out some repetitions or

stop the tape and walk for a minute or two to recover, then pick up where I left

off. It has really helped me to work out with someone who is just starting. She

has no problem just going slower than the people on the tape, and that allows

her to do the whole duration. Some days the physical biorhythms are low, and

things are hard from the get go and I never really seem to warm up or get in the

swing of things. Thats when I use my will and spirit and just try to do slow

and steady to reach my minimum goal of 30 minutes if I can...Since I am in this

for life, I try to be sensible and keep " slow and steady wins the race " in mind.

Keep up the good work! Delana.

Subject: workout update

About 21 minutes today, with a minute or so of extra abs (didn't time it, and

did just enough to say I did it.) I'm sweaty and hot, and tired, and my arms in

the shoulder are baggy and weak....ahhhh, a great workout. This was on the Basic

Taebo Live workout which is very fast paced for me....so even to keep up to the

kicking part... was progress. My legs don't feel worked out but my arms sure do.

But as arms get stronger, and my endurance grows, I'll be able to work longer

and deeper. I always stop when I notice that I'm not caring about form and am

basically flailing about or if my muscles begin trembling. Do you all have a

" stop " signal? Or do you just work to the end, no matter what?

My real long term goal is to be able to finish one of his Advanced tapes. Short

term goal is to be able to finish one of the basic tapes. I'd like to get

stronger, but it's not that important, tho' it is a real part of the process. Of

course, I don't know if my sudden improvement is because that medicine is

kickin' in...tho' it started about 2 weeks after I started taking it,...or if my

body just gave up the struggle to be a true couch potato. :) It probably is the

nerves improving, since other non-exercise stuff is improving too, like my

hands/feet/ other parts don't have burning, nor are they going numb. Either way,

or for whatever reason, I'm improving, and I intend to keep on working at it. So

if I have to slide back to where I was, then it will be a longer slide back.

LOL. This is my motto that I keep above my computer : " Don't give in, don't give

up. " I ought to change that to " Never give in. Never give up. " I think that's

stronger.

Well, I'm off to the showers, ....

Tomorrow is Tae-bo, and I'm actually looking forward to it. :)

Tomorrow will be a Tae Bo day for me too Charlotte. Today I did a FIRM and a Core yoga. I really look forward to my Tae Bo days!

workout update

I did the 3 minute abs and 13 (actually a little more, as it was slow to get started so I kept adding minutes),.. of yoga. I mostly "breathed" today, and yet I feel like I have worked out. My muscles felt challenged in ways they are not in the more active exercise, as well as my flexibility. It was work holding still. Hard work. It was a nice balancing out of the active vs. the not active. It embraced all of me, and encouraged me to go inside...mindfully. All of it fits together, in a pattern I had not seen before.

Tomorrow is Tae-bo, and I'm actually looking forward to it. :)

P.S. I am beginning to understand that it is not the minutes I do that is important. What is important that I am establishing a habit that will help me to exercise even when I don't feel like it. It is a foundation that supports the rest of my life, helping me to be more, encouraging me to keep going even when my arms are trembling from the effort. I read somewhere to be mindful of habits for they are the task-masters of the old.

I did 4 minutes ab work, and 14 minutes of The Firm. I had to put down the weights before the end, but.....I did manage to finish my 14 minutes. The last three minutes were like..."I want to quit, ...no, it's just 3 more minutes....I can't lift my arms any more...it's only 2 more minutes....I'm dying here....no you're not...keep going...etc." The workouts are getting easier to do, and I do plan on keeping working out the month that I'm away in NE. The muscles in my arms are getting more definite, and strong. I can see the muscles flexing under the skin. I feel stronger all over. :) Hey, this exercise stuff really works. LOL.

I'm doing good today. :)

I've had a couple of bad days, -- 2 days too tired to work out, and 1 day

of only about 10 minutes. Today I did 5 minutes of Abs and 15 minutes of

Yoga. Nice, quiet, but still worked me out. Tomorrow is Tae-bo. I hope I can

do a full 15 with it, but if I can't, welllll, there's always next week. ;)

I've been watching a set of cardinals in my yard. Two males are competing

for a single female. They make a striking triangle in my flowering pear

tree. They've been stealing food from my baby ducklings all day. Boston, my

oldest duckling, goes after them sometimes…but has never caught a one.

There's enough food for everyone. :)

4 weeks until my trip…gotta keep my workouts up, so I can handle the travel,

the Douala work, and the moving her back. I might even have to hustle in the

airport as the connecting flight between them is 30 minutes….if the first

one is late…I'm in trouble. What an adventure! I probably won't be able to

write during this time. I'll try to find a W-fi hotspot, but no guarantees.

I know for a fact that if I had not been exercising until now, I would not

be able to travel so long, far without getting exhausted. Or even

contemplate an attempt to hustle from one airport gate to another. I might

get tired, but I am confident that I can do it. I wouldn't have been 2 years

ago. This exercising stuff keeps me stronger than I would have been

otherwise...and I'm getting muscles. Wow, an actual Bicep! Oh, look, a

tricep...and are those muscles in my forearms? I'm beginning to feel it in

my waist and in my legs. It's working,...but not as quickly as I'd like. I

do plan on keeping my time at least stable while I'm in Nebraska.
